Some of them can be amusing while others are just plan...stupid (or annoying for some). I've accounted my fair shared of trolls but none of them have ever gotten on my nerves. It's mostly because they get a quick reply from me that kills them and basically ruins their plan. Other times it's because they become counter-trolled and that in it self is funny to see when it happens. Here's an example: Troll 1: Dude, I've been trolling this nerd like ALL DAY. Troll 2: So you've wasted your entire day. Nice job dickwad. In case there are those that are reading this that have no idea what a troll is. It's an internet term for someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. Basically, their attempt is to make you upset or to piss you off. But if you want to reply to them, do so in a understanding 'kill them with kindness' attitude. That pisses them off the most because that's the last reaction they expected to get. Otherwise, just don't feed the trolls because the last thing you want is to encourage that kind of behavior. How does one feed the trolls? It's when people say stuff that they know will prompt someone to respond with a trolled reply and/or replying to comments that are blatantly from a troll. This is especially true when a troll first makes his comment/reply, and (usually many) people respond, either trying to correct the troll, or express anger at the statement. At that point, the trolling was successful and has been fed. When encouraged by success and feeding, trolls often return. An example: Poster: Please help! I need advice. I have a friend who's 13 and has started cutting herself. What should I do? Troll: You're clearly a bad friend as you don't support her in every decision she's going to make. You should help her cut, and be a better friend. If you tell her parents she'll be angry at you and won't be your friend anymore. Sounds horrible doesn't it? They purposely want to piss off the poster and those who are reading it. Again, don't encourage them. Point them out as a troll, move on and ignore them if they continue to try and bait you. If you get really pissed I suggest to write out a rant. It helps a lot to relieve all that anger and it'll keep you from exploding on innocent bystanders. It's what I usually do when someone's actions is unbelievable and horrible.
