Key Name:: “Inevitable Oath” Abilities:: This weapon serves as Rhys’ key in between the different dimensions and worlds. It and it alone takes him between the different universes, dimensions of said universes, and the normal world and the Spirit world, however, it doesn’t need to be with him at all times to take him between them. It’s also the key to keeping him on any given surface at any given time now that he gave up his organic body. All spirits need this kind of link in order to exist in any sort of physical form. When he had an organic body, he didn’t need the key. Once one shell dies, this key alone holds their power so that they can transfer it into a new shell – without which, he would only be a spiritual entity. Among this, the scythe has its own abilities to be used in battle. Its original form is the scythe, but it can be any type of weapon, including but not limited to a spear, javelin, bow and arrow, sword, halberd, etc. it is overall very powerful, and it serves as a catalyst for Rhys’ energy. What energy Rhys has, is multiplied 10fold or more through the scythe. Energy attacks are that much more powerful. Weaknesses:: Should the weapon be completely incinerated, Rhys would lose the ability to make another shell or be on any other dimension. He would cease to be immortal. This is why Rhys doesn’t keep it visible 99.9% of his lifetime. He has it hidden in a secret dimension that he only takes it back from when he has no other option. If he uses it in battle, he’s obviously very desperate. Among these weaknesses, this weapon can be broken the same way he can, and it has the same weaknesses, and no others.
Abilities *Shell – The ability to make a shell as a body was given to him when he gave up the use of an organic body. An organic body is one that has organs, bones, real blood, and other similar things. Organic bodies are a privilege among spirits, and can be used indefinitely if the spirit chooses to. However, should an organic body die, they have to find a new one to usurp – always one that is just birthed – in the form of resurrection. This body must grow the way a child does, and into adulthood. However, once they reach a certain age, they stay that way, until they die through natural causes such as diseases, or murder. Age is not an issue for spirits in organic bodies. Rhys, however, gave this up, for the use of Shells, which have their own weaknesses and strengths. While in a Shell, the Shell, or body, is entirely made of the spirit’s element; this gives the elemental high amounts of control over their element, and they are harder to kill. However, the spirit’s control over the Shell is limited in a sense of time. The Shell deteriorates over time, and the connection between the soul and/or spirit and the body withers in the same sense. After about five years, the Shell starts to become defective and unresponsive, and it won’t obey all commands. It’s much like an old, outdated computer. These Shells must be replaced fairly often, and they must be killed off for this to work. These shells can also be damaged in a fight, and once the structure is damaged, it will be affected by the same ails as age until it becomes nearly unbearable. A new one is made within a week, and the spirit’s key keeps their energy from leaving the surface plane while a new body is in the works. These new bodies are always made by the spirits themselves, in the form of intensive energy work, and, in Rhys’ case, sculpting the body out of earthly materials, also through energy work. Once the body is made, all nervous systems must be activated, and the body must connect to the soul. This requires the spirit to connect, fiber by fiber, to the body, with every nerve being felt and activated. It’s a painful process, and the pain won’t cease for about a day. Where the body is non-organic and doesn’t technically have a nervous system, the enchantment that gives the shell the appearance of skin, watery eyes, saliva, and blood, also forces them into feeling pain, lust, love, and all other living responses. This enchantment is sometimes faulty depending on the situation, and can be removed, in part, very carefully, and afterwards be replaced [see “Partial Transformation”]. *Transformation – As an earth spirit, he has the ability to morph into any creature on his territory, including creatures of the sea. His own, unique, original form, is the one he chose to look like. It carries features of his favorite creatures, obviously including his cat eyes and his claws. His original form is extremely dense, so that he has the ability to morph into creatures bigger in size [not weight, necessarily] than he is. There’s only one problem with this. His max weight is 3,536 pounds. There are creatures that weigh more than that – such as an elephant or a rhino, etc. If he does decide to morph into these creatures, he will be fragile, like butter spread over too much bread. *Transformation with Likeness – Among being able to morph into creatures, he can also morph into any one, currently living being. He could be a generic species, such as a fruit bat or a dolphin, but he can also be, at least in appearance: his best friend, the president, his neighbor, any of his children, etc. he does not carry any of their abilities or memories, however – he only morphs into the appearances of those he chooses. *Partial Transformation – He can also morph single parts of his body. The ‘chatterbox’ gesture one makes with their hand, in Rhys’ case, can be made using the other person’s actual face being attached to his arm. In the same way he can morph his arms into those of a tiger, or he could take off the enchantment temporarily on his arms that makes him look like a fleshy person, which would turn his arms into golem-like masses of rock and dirt. This can be so with any part of his body that he chooses. * Control over the element, Earth – He can move objects based on will, using energy tendrils, or just on a whim. The things he can move without some sort of energy must have a correlation to the earth – such as a flower, garden, wood, trees, rocks, etc. He can move singular, man-made objects with ease using excess energy around him, but only if that energy belongs to him. Pencils, pens, chairs, glasses, weed – anything he wants he can retrieve using energy (which function much like tentacles or extensions of himself) within a 500 foot radius; otherwise he must use the ability of transference between dimensions (see below). He can also do what he needs to do with those objects without using his hands – IE, he can roll a blunt from a distance, pour a glass of wine from another room, etc. * Rock Armor – Among the ability to control earthly materials, he can pack it onto his form like a shield. Unlike what’s already in his shells, he cannot change the properties of these materials. If he packs dirt onto him as a shield, it will only be dirt. If he packs on granite, that’s all it will be. * Rock Monster – There’s an enchantment on his shell that makes him appear to have skin, watery eyes, saliva, etc. Once he lets that spell down, he is entirely his element as well as in appearance. When he combines this with the rock armor, he is extremely hard to beat down. He can project parts of himself as projectiles, and then take them back. In this case only extreme heat can take him down, as it changes the properties of some of the materials in his original shell, and weakens his base foundation. However, added with the rock armor he chooses, it would be nearly impossible to get to that base foundation unless you overwhelmed him with things to defend himself from, or otherwise distracted him. * Organic Clones – These clones are best for defense and escape tactics. The clones he can make from earthly materials look exactly like him in every way, and they cast shadows. However, they do not carry any of his abilities. They can speak, and follow his commands, and fight using regular combat, but they are not earth spirits like Rhys is, so they do not have his powers. * Teleportation – This is a fairly popular ability. His form of teleportation is a mixture of his ability to warp between dimensions, and his mental ability to tell him exactly where to go. He can only go to places he’s been to before, or if he has the exact coordinates of the location, between the latitude, longitude, and the code of the universe he’s in. The codes are common knowledge between spirit-folk. * Element Shift – He can only change the properties of the materials in his shell alone. He can turn the sand into glass, certain types of dirt into naturally occurring metals, etc. This is good for making a tough defense. * Transference and Storage of Items in Different Dimensions – For items that are extremely far away for him, he can take them from their location and put them into his own location through the same method as his teleportation – however it is meant for inanimate objects, and not for people. He can also technically steal things in this same fashion. The item doesn’t have to be all that far away either – and he can essentially take something that already exists and put it in his hands as if it were his own. Usually he’ll only do the latter if it’s something small, like a pack of cigarettes. To sum up, he can transfer and teleport items in nearly the same way that he does to himself. * Energy Push/ Pull – He can use his extreme amounts of heavy energy to influence the space around his aggressor, by making the space pull them, or push them away from him. It takes a large pulse of energy to do this, so he doesn’t do it often, and the only time he does is when he needs to escape. Escaping is usually his number one goal, as he doesn’t like to fight. * Energy Drain – He can steal the energy of the one he’s fighting, but only if they are inexperienced in the ways of manipulating and protecting their reserves. Usually if they aren’t skilled in this, he won’t bother, as he would find them immature or not worth stealing, as likely the strength of the energy will be very weak. If he needs the energy, however, he will take without question. * Energy Influence – This can also only be used through an opponent with a weak mind. This is much like possession, and he only uses it in tight spots, when he needs to change the mind of whoever wants to attack him – so much as a rabid animal, a weak-minded-but-still-physically-strong individual, etc. *Hand-to-hand Combat – Like most people, he’s pretty good with his hands and feet in close range. With his immense weight he is pretty damn slow, but when he gets a good swing in, the momentum that his limb/limbs gain in the process is extremely hard to dodge or stop.
Weaknesses *Fire – Fire has the potential to change the properties of the elements in his shell. He’s not deathly afraid of fire and he doesn’t really have any sort of paranoia or phobia about it, but he does know his limits. Fire is also the only element and weakness of his that doesn’t function like a normal wound. When he’s afflicted by fire, his skin doesn’t look burned the same way a human’s would be. Instead, when burned, the skin looks fine, but underneath the skin looks and feels lumpy and sharp, because the elements in the shell have been damaged, likely permanently. This is also the only weakness where he’s likely to terminate the shell before it kills him, because of the frustration of the damaged shell. * Open Water – Rhys is a literal rock, in many ways. He is not hollow, or buoyant. He is a solid mass, and a heavy one at that. He wouldn’t be able to swim in his usual, chosen form, even if he wanted to – unless he changed the properties of his shell to make it more hollow, or chose a separate animal form to swim with. He’s not good with boats either, as they rock dangerously with him in them, or just plain sink. Ships are a different matter, but he still has to be careful about being close to any one edge. * His Loved Ones – He has a soft spot for those he’s related to, or if nothing else, close to. If you manage to get through his exterior, he’ll find ways to dote upon you. His reasoning is that he has nothing else to use his money on, so he might as well use it on you as well. However, should his loved ones be harmed, or even threatened, he will become extremely defensive and protective, and usually he’ll excuse reason for the purpose of protection. He becomes stupid with rage and takes his anger and terror out on the aggressor. He can easily be tricked when he’s emotionally compromised, even more so than most people, because of his very narrow tunnel vision. * Speed – As mentioned before, Rhys is extremely heavy. Because of this, he’s very slow when first beginning a trek, but he can gain speed as he goes on through momentum. His terminal velocity is actually very fast, considering his weight, but he’s too lazy to get there, and it takes quite a distance before he can reach it. For the most part, he lumbers, and can’t react very quickly to things. If someone were to throw something at him, he probably wouldn’t be able to catch it with his bare hands. * Small, Cramped Spaces – Rhys is a being that is generally very tall, and he has a lot of energy that takes up a lot of space. If you were to put him in a small closet for any length of time he would very quickly be overwhelmed by discomfort, paranoia, and the energy that surrounds him. He would more quickly destroy the small, cramped area before he would stay in it for very long. * Sex – For a long time, he sold himself for the hell of it. Now, he’s more interested in monogamy – but, his lover, whoever that may be at the time, has a high power over him. He could be in the worst of moods, and completely forget it with the promise of sex. *Ears – Related to the above sexual topic, his ears are highly sensitive. He could be on the defensive, or ready to attack, but if someone were to take him by the ears and rub them, he would cease his previous thoughts, emotions, and motives, while he was under the influence of his ears. He could even be blinded with rage, and still be subdued with his ears being rubbed. If anyone were to want anything from him, all they would need to do, is be able to reach his ears. Rhys knows this, and will protect his ears as much as possible on a daily basis, but there are times when he isn’t thinking about it, and he could be overtaken while in a fog. His ears don’t stimulate him in a sexual way, but usually he’ll let a lover reach them more often than just the normal person. * Pain – Most people in the world have this weakness. When he’s in pain he can’t think straight, and most if not all of his more powerful attacks require him to be focused either on his attack, or on his opponent. When in pain he is blinded and more likely to hurt himself rather than who he originally intended. As a rock, he shouldn’t technically be able to feel pain – but, again, the enchantment that gives him saliva and sweat and soft skin, also gives him human neurological responses like pain and pleasure. Usually this enchantment even heightens the feeling to a level humans wouldn’t feel, good or bad. * Pregnant Women – Rhys can’t stand the sight, feel, or energy of a pregnant woman. Even within the first day of conception, he will avoid the presence of the pregnant lady at all costs. He’s more accurate than a store-bought pregnancy test; if you really wanted to know whether or not you were pregnant, just walk up to him and see if he minds your company. What he hates the most is the energy that comes from them, because of how strong and sponge-like it is. If forced to touch one he’ll start shouting expletives and phrases like “she’s going to steal my soul”. * Children – Usually, if the child is any child but one of his own, he’ll be very dismissive and annoyed that they’re in his personal bubble. If a child was able to melt his heart, to him, that’s a sign that this child was special. His own children own his heart and soul, even though they’re all grown up now, and he will and would give them anything he possibly could. However, if he were to see a child in danger, whether he liked them or not, his previously mentioned blind rage would kick in, and he would destroy whoever was threatening or harming the child. He may not like children and the way they behave, but he protects new life once they’re out of the womb of the pregnant lady he avoids the hell out of.
