* BPALers: Carnivale Diabolique is coming down July first for renovation. no word on if we're losing scents or which ones or when it'll be back.
* "The Many Faces of Parisian Architecture:" http://flavorwire.com/189500/the-many-faces-of-parisian-architecture
* In Indiana, a judge ruled that the State must pay Planned Parenthood for cancer screening for Medicaid patients. The Indiana Attorney general is appealing. After all, we can't have women in poverty getting health care, can we?
* It turns out you can buy a favorable ruling from Justice Clarance Thomas for about $15,000-$19,000. I am surprised he'd sell his integrity so cheaply. I suppose given how little he has, it was going at a cut rate. I wish the same rules of conduct for judges at all other levels applied to the supreme court. (Yes, Scalia and possibly Alito are also corrupt, but not as openly and flagrantly).
* RIP Peter Falk at 83. Another piece of my childhood gone. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110624/ap_en_ot/us_obit_peter_falk

* General Petreus just switched positions and is now in favour of torture. Even though it's wrong. Even though it's bad for foreign policy. Even though it's a good way to get bad i8nformation and a terrible way to get good information. Sigh. how many times do I have to say it, Jack Bower is fictional.
* Podcast includes interviews of Denny Upkins and David Levine. Y'all know how exited I am about Hollowstone, but likely only those of you who know me in person know what a David Levine fan thing I am. (Seriously, I have a signed copy of his airship story, and I've had a crush on him ever since I saw him do "Who's Line" at my first Orycon.) How cool to here interviews with both excellent authors in one place? http://neo-prodigy.livejournal.com/963732.html
* tulaq found, even more women facing long prison sentences in the Us for miscarriages and the like: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jun/24/america-pregnant-women-murder-charges
* There have been the inevitable delays on closing on the house. Apparently squirrels got into the crawl space again. No surprise, I used to listen to them squabble above my bed at night.

* Sadly, no surprise here: http://box-in-the-box.livejournal.com/514224.html
