This is what I'm up to lately!
Abe the Ghost Hunter
“Damn it, still nothing…” Abe Snyder had been staring at his laptop for the past 6 hours, barely blinking for fear that he would miss one of the signs he was looking for. His eyes strained to stay focused on the readings, which ranged from simple audio to the more complex electromagnetic spectrometers. He was in his early thirties, unkempt hair needing to be pushed back from his face every so often. His large, round glasses slid down his prominent nose halfway each time he made an adjustment on his equipment.

“I don’t get why you still try this stuff, it seems pretty hopeless.” His accompaniment on this particular ghost hunt was his sister, Tabitha. She never much cared for his obsession, but she couldn’t well let him stay all night in an abandoned warehouse by himself. “How long have you been at this again?”

“About 10 years today, and I’m really close to finding something. I can feel it!”

“Your optimism in enviable, to be sure, but don’t you think it’s time to move on and get a real job?”

“Nope.” And that was all he would say for the rest of the night.

Sunlight broke through a broken window, waking up the siblings. Abe took another glance at the laptop before saving the recordings and packing up. I’ll take another look at all of this at home; make sure I didn’t miss anything. Tabitha helped him wrap up the cords and get everything back in the cases, as she had done so many times before. He was thankful for her help, but he really wished she’d shut up about the job situation. He made decent money off the occasional TV spot, he was even an extra in the ghost movie once! It’s not like he was really struggling.

That was when he remembered his lease was almost up, and he had been late on rent too many times this year; the landlord wasn’t going to let him renew. “So, I’m thinking about moving this month, think you could give me a hand?”

“Moving? Or is it more along the lines of eviction?” She said it nonchalantly, as if the conversation happened often, which it had, about 6 times in the last 7 years.

“You didn’t answer my question.” He retorted, a little resentful.

“Yes, I’ll help you move. After all, if I don’t, who will?”

He rolled his eyes as he latched the last case shut. After packing everything in the back of his white van he drove his sister home. Then he went back to his place for the all too familiar task of putting everything he owned into boxes.

Short and sweet, but it could use some more descriptions if it's the start of something. You didn't even give an age. Also the text is very tiny... hurts my eyes.

Yeah, I was trying to get his personality and situation on paper. I generalized early thirtys, Need to put something in about his siter being younger. I'll probably segwey into it as a flashback while he's packing.
