The light was shining through the window lighting up the room showing the dust in the air. The light found its way to my bed and landed upon my face waking me up. I covered my face with a pillow and tried to get back to sleep but it was useless I couldn't get back to sleep. I looked at the clock from under my pillow and it said nine o'clock. I cursed under my breath and got up out of bed. I stretched then slowly walked over to the calendar and crossed today out. The calendar said today was October 31 the day before his birthday. I am throwing him a surprise party for his birthday. As I got ready for the day I looked around making sure he wasn't near. I looked at the clock again it was almost nine thirty now he will be awake soon. I grabbed my purse, some breakfast, then put my hair up in a pony tail and put shoes on.
As I was about to open the door I heard a deep sigh from behind. I jumped from the sudden sound and turned around and said, “Geez, you scared me when did you get up and come behind me?”
“I got up five minutes ago. When I walked out of the room I walked up behind you. Where are you going today? You haven’t been home all week it is Friday you know.” He crossed his arms across his chest.
“Yes I know I haven’t been home all week,” I looked down at my feet then looked back up to him, “and a friend called she needs help with something.”
“I didn’t hear the phone ring today. It would have woke me up you know that. So where are you really going?” He had a serious look on his face and he looked a bit fed up with me.
“I am uh going to the uh store to get some things.” I looked away avoiding his eyes.
“Fine… Will you be back by lunch time?” His voice was a bit sad I felt kind of bad for not being home all week.
“Yeah, I should be back by then.”
“Okay,” He put his hand under my chin and made me look at him. His hand was soft but firm. “But, you better be back at twelve sharp.” Then he leaned forward and kissed me on the lips.
When he let go of my chin and pulled back I spoke. "Alright I'll be back by then." I turned toward the door and he grabbed my arm truning me around and he hugged my firmly then let go. I turned around waved goodbye and went out of the door.
