Have you ever written something very clearly and then someone still asks questions about it? Sometimes those questions are redundant and other times unnecessary.
I don’t mind people politely asking questions to further understand a subject. But the problem I have is when people don’t ask questions. Instead they automatically assume something about what you wrote and basically create a misunderstanding that could have been avoided if they read it in first place.
This annoys me because I spend a lot of time writing things and then rewriting them so that there aren’t any possible misunderstandings. Even when I find out something I wrote wasn’t clear enough, I rewrite it or clarify it better. However, there are times that people make me want to pull my hair out because it’s as though they skim through it or didn’t read everything I wrote.
It’s annoying. If they read everything they would have realize that their question would’ve been answered. If they asked me what I meant when they don’t understand or are confused, I could have cleared it up for them. But if they don’t ask and instead assume or jump to some random conclusion, it just wastes time and complicates things.
It’s all about thinking first before saying anything. For example, if an author stated in the beginning of their story that they won’t write lemons, then why would you request it? If the author misspelled a title then don’t automatically assume it was accidental. Check first by reading! Make sure that the author purposely did it. If they don’t say anything in the author’s note then ask them. Ask why the title is the way it is. It’s a lot better to do that then being impolite by sending a message in a tone that sounds snooty, about how they need to fix it.
TLDR: Please don’t ask questions without checking first. Also read everything before commenting. Nothing is more annoying when a person assumes something without clarifying and ends up causing a unnecessary misunderstanding. All of which could have been avoided if they read an article or whatnot, completely in the first place.
