Called to fill a higher purpose.
Called to serve where few would go.
Men and women from all circles.
Who would die? No one could know.
China, Burma, Vietnam.
Soldiers young and old alike.
Saudi Arabia and Japan.
Marched as one into the fight.
Putting life and limb at risk.
So that we could all be free.
Praying that they would come home.
Wives and mothers on their knees.
Wars are not what they would wish.
And death is not their chosen course.
But country calls, and they respond.
With one goal, peace to enforce.
So on this memorial day,
Thank the ones who stand tall.
Their's the sacrifice of self,
So that freedom reigns for all.
