“Die hard fans” that honesty care about the original Devil May Cry series don’t ALL hate DmC. So please stop generalizing us all as unreasonable haters and that we’re only focus on DmC’s Dante appearance. Many of us have a legit reason to be skeptical of the reboot. We wonder if it’ll contain elements of the original. If it doesn’t and everything changes then it makes us wonder, what’s the real point of the reboot?
Fans of the original series loved it for it’s quirkiness, for it’s story (despite what some people think…yes it does have a story and lessons behind it) and if DmC doesn’t have an equivalent to those things then again, what’s the point? Why couldn’t they just make a continuation for DMC4 or even DMC2? To finish and tie up the missing plotholes of it? They could have easily made a new game if they didn’t want to finish it.
Fans are just weary of the new game and they do understand that it’s not suppose to be the same as the original. That it takes place in an alternative universe but that doesn’t mean we can’t analyze it. We all have the right to be critical of it because it’s still takes from the original. They take establish characters we know and we just want to make sure that they do a great job on those characters. That they don’t change them to a point where they become unrecognizable, because what’s the point in doing that, when they could have just created new characters altogether?
It’s all about making sure that the reboot still has DMC essences, all the while be it’s own series. I’m not sure about other fans but I just worry that it’ll become one of those reboots that have nothing to do with the original. That if someone replace all their names with something else, no one would ever know it had anything to do with DMC. If that becomes the case then they fail and fans have a reason to be disappointed and dislike it. But for now, I and like many others will reserve judgement on it until we play it for ourselves.
