Recently, I went to the supermarket and came across a box on sale. It was a Serenata de Amor mix chocolate box, made by Garoto Chocolates. Garoto is a Brazilian manufacturer of chocolates.
Serenata de Amor is Portuguese for Serenade of Love and it’s a sweet treat that has a cashew-nut cream filled center and is surrounded by crunchy wafer and chocolate on the outside. The mix chocolate box also contains a white chocolate filled bonbon and a mousse chocolate filled bonbon with the same crunchy wafer inside and chocolate on the outside.
It reminds me of Ferrero Rocher in it’s shape and use of wafer, but it doesn’t come any where close in it’s taste. The Serenata de Amor seems less sweet to me but still tasty none-the-less. The filling in each bonbon is favorable, not overly sweet and has a hint of bitterness that’s barely there. It’s an interesting taste. It’s not the most amazing tasting chocolates I’ve had but better then some.
