the storm struck with fierceness that night. the crew slept beneath the floorboards and in their bunks. the map was secured down and the compass was clutched tightly in her hands. she tried using her hat to block the wind, but it was no use. she feared the map would become damged with all of the rain and winds, so she rolled it up and put it in the desk before her. she placed the compass in with it, and she dashed to the anchor to put it into the reckless sea. it splashed into the black, uneased waves, and prepared herself for one of the worst storms a pirate could face. the waves were begining to rise, and capt. deep was frightened out of her wits. she wouldnt let her fear get a grip on her though. she climbed up on the masts and pulled in the sails, tying them down. she woke her crew, sounding bells and alarms, demanding the crew secure itself. she tossed them ropes. there was a designated spot where they could tie their ropes to the ship and tie the other end of the rope around their waist. the crew was safely fastened, and the waves were unbeleivably huge. then capt.deep remembered the map and the compass - two of her most valuable possesions. she ran towards the wheel, but the rope would've never allowed it. she unfastened it from herself, and ran as fast as she could, hoping to make it to the wheel and back before the biggest wave of them all came to swallow them. she made it up the steps, tear tugging at her eyes, and the wind biting her. the cries of her crew were lost in the winds. she pulled the map and compass from the desk pocket, and put them in a pocket inside her coat that snapped shut. she saw the wave and removed her coat. she was close - so close and she was getting closer to the ropes that would secure her. she couldnt make it - however. she threw her coat to the arms of her first mate who was closeest to her, and reaching out for her hand. the first mate caught it in mid - air, and quickly slipped it on as the captain slipped away into the wave that came crashing onto her ship. boards splintered, and people were strewn about and rolled around, but no one was lost. they werent sure if capt. deep was still on board or not. the rain slowed. then it stopped completely. there were no cries of joy. the crewmates was safe and no major damage had come to their ship but there was one problem - capt. deep was nowhere in sight.
