The biggest character we meet in this show is Koenma. Everyone else was more or less established in the previous episode.
I gotta say … I love Koenma's voice actor. With a lot of voice actors, you can pretty much picture them in the booth recording their lines. Not in this case, though. Candice Moore IS Koenma, and she loves it. Nonchallant, cool-headed, on-top-of-things baby demigod Koenma.
We go back to earth, where we find Atsuko … at her worst. Of course, she just lost a teenage son. All considered, I'm not shocked that she's acting this way. I'd probably help myself to a stiff drink as well.
We proceed to be treated to some really feelsy scenes that are totally adorable and heart-wrenching, but I don't think I need to go into detail on them. Keiko and Atsuko miss Yusuke, to the point where they can shrug off the signs and dreams Yusuke sends them as delusions of a mourning mind. I could analyze it further, but I want to move on.
We find out that Kuwabara is a psychic, and HOLY s**t, KUWABARA IS BEING STRAIGHT-UP CHASED BY A DEMON. Dear Apollo, you've lived your entire 14 years of existence with this s**t? No wonder you're not afraid of Yusuke.
I know, man. You've seen some s**t.
I'm sure the rest of the internet will take care of all the jokes for when Yusuke is inside of Kuwabara (insert yaoi joke HERE), so I'll save that for other members of the fandom.
Here's a different thing: Keiko's parents deserve a shout-out. Look at Keiko's dad in this scene. That sassy sue just threw the second toughest street punk out of his store for insulting an old family friend … wait, family friend? Do Keiko's parents have connections with the Yakuza, too?
Don't ******** with those two, man.
Finally, Yusuke gets to talk to Keiko in the flesh. It's interesting to note that not only does Keiko know Yusuke well enough to recognize how he acts when he's in another man's body (insert yaoi joke HERE)...
but she also knows him well enough to recognize the second when he acts OUT of character.
We wrap up the episode with an adorable scene between Atsuko and Keiko, wherein they celebrate Yusuke's return to life and Yusuke's spirit egg feeds. We watch the ending credits roll reflecting on all of the ridiculous anime expressions we saw in this episode.
"This b***h ..."
Seriously, these are free to use if you want them. I'm sure you can think of a use.
