Time 2:45 am..
The Mojave wind's kicked up a large dust cloud as the Legion war band of two thousand five hundred, lead by Attila trail blazed through the early dawn!
Much of the Mojave had been brought under the crushing banner of Legion now as of 2286! Five year's since the second battle of Hoover Dam; in that time Caesar issued his "New Rome" reforms! First off he set about enslaving three tribes; The Boomer's, the Mojave chapter of BOS, and the Mojave Follower's of Apocalypse. From each of these conquered tribes Caesar used new idea's, technology, and tactics to shift the Legion from barbarian war cult to highly advanced yet savage war culture! The Second step was modernizing his military; Caesar set about reorganizing his Legion! Close quarters and melee combat was still heavily implemented but now Caesar could have a diverse, fluid, and adaptable war fighting force! Using his new found technology, supplies, and ordinance Caesar set about making five distinct branches in his Legion! The Infantry, Calvary, Artillery, Air, and Engineer corp! Though standard was each recruit in the Legion would serve in the Infantry for a term of one year; and if they showed talent would be drafted to other areas! With a new flexible fighting force came new and improved tactics on waging war!
Caesar favorite tactic he called "Blitz" using his Calvary (vehicle mounted troops) and Artillery. The Calvary set in a check-board formation for maximum mobility; while the Artillery would be set yards away from vantage position's. The Calvary would mount a charge and than feign retreat but staying close to the enemy to give pursuit! As the pursuers gave chase Caesar's Artillery would blast them to annihilation! Than while the enemies pursing army was preoccupied; Caesar would launch his Air Corp to attack the enemies cities or supply source! Thus leaving his opponents in complete disarray! Not wasting time once panic had set in Caesar would than reroute his Calvary in a wedge formation followed by a large ground assault and artillery bombardment! Victory would than be assured. Now if this was siege Caesar could send in his Engineer's ,under cover of Aerial bombardment and assault for cover, to use heavy precise ordinance to blast away at; wall's, structures, and fortifications!
Attila originally came from a tribe called the War Song of southern Colorado! Like many other's he was assimilated at a young age; what would make Attila stand out above other's is at the age of fourteen when his recruit training camp came under attack and Legionnaire's were slaughtered by a pack of rabid death-claw's! Attila smiled and charged into combat with such ferocity that even the death-claw's felt fear as he mercilessly cut the entire pack down ! For his valiant display of unshakable courage Caesar bestowed unto him the title of "Praeliator!" Meaning great warrior in Roman tongue; ever since than Attila rose through the rank's and single handedly conquered all of the entire tribes Colorado!
The war band were getting closer to their target! Caesar had issued order's to launch a full scale attack on the last NCR stronghold in the Mojave! The Ranger Station Alpha and NCR Mojave outpost! Attila wanted to use a tactic he favored the "Bull and Horn's" formation to drive out the NCR! Attila and the other Legate's decided that in order to mount a full scale invasion of the NCR territory of California; they'd need to make the NCR focus their effort's on multiple front's! First by attacking the Mojave Outpost to divert their attention, Second Legate Lanius would take six hundred B-52 bomber's and launch and central invasion of California! Lastly while those two fronts were open Legate's Lupus and Barca would lead a large Heavy Calvary assault on NCR Land's to the south and North! This tactic Caesar called "Total War"! And he would have nothing less than victory!
Attila pressed on as he wanted to start the siege right as the sun rose from the horizon directly to the rear of the Legion assault and directly in the eye's of the NCR profligates! Riding proud at the front of the formation something caught the Legate's eye?! Calling for a halt at what appeared to the untrained ..an abandoned gas station.! Now Attila's men knew he served in Caesar's Assassin's corp; so knowing the tell tale signs of when and where someones been was something Attila specialized in! Looking at the structure he noticed; disrupted dirt as if someone was trying to cover their tracks, sent of of ammonia and gun-powered, and the structure looked as if it had been tampered with via forced entry!? Raising his fist to war band they dismounted and lit their torches; giving loud war cries! His engineer's quickly setting up radio jamming frequencies to block out any potential for a call of help! Attila was well seasoned hunter of NCR Ranger's..and he knew when one was hiding behind a rock or plain view!
Attila than unclick his belt and handed them to his Centurion; than unsheathed his blades one he threw down, the other he stabbed in the dirt! This was sign of momentary truce before combat; a sign many NCR commander's and soldiers learned before doing battle with the Legion!
With a loud voice Attila called out! "Here I stand before you commander of the greatest army of conqueror's! Behold them and tremble in fear as a coward or walk out and we shall discuss terms like honorable warriors!" Attila knew and followed the ancient law's combat; something his men and Caesar respected him for! Rather than slaughter a whole village out right ( though he had done so when angered) he would give its defends a fair chance at fighting him for a small but bright chance of freedom from enslavement. Now Attila sat cross legged with one sword stabbed in the dirt and the other laying on the dirt waiting to see would the person inside come out? Or would he be flushed out instead!!
