Abilities: Ebele is a yondan (4th rank) in karate and was taught by her father Tyrone Roderick (and a little by her step-grandfather Kazuo Jones). She specifically excels in kicking techniques, particularly the mawashi geri (always used on people that are taller), ashi barai (typically used to knock the wind out of people that are heavier than her), fumikomi geri (to gain the upper hand if someone grabs her), and ushiro geri (for targeting people behind her). She also takes kicking techniques from jujutsu.
Because of her being part bear, Ebele's upper body strength's max lifting power is 183 lbs. Most of her strength resides in her legs, though, so she relies on those the most.
Bear Characteristics: The sclera always changes black whenever she taps into her bear side. Her bear ears are always present on her regardless of how she feels; a hydrangea leg sleeve tattoo is on her left leg and there are thick bear paw pads on both soles of her feet (both are hidden under opaque thigh highs that match her exact skin color).
*These traits are typical among the Roderick family, except the fact that they all possess different hidden tattoos they can will away at any time, as well as their ears and other traits. With the exception of her sclera, Ebele can't will away her paw pads, tattoo, or ears.

Ebele really enjoys the connections she makes when interacting with people, which makes her approachable and easy to talk to. Influenced by both her parents' professions at a young age, she's developed a habit of constantly exploring and is very curious about information and art, of what makes people tick, of what values they put in particular objects, and more importantly, themselves.
However, on her own she can easily become overwhelmed when her own overthinking behavior remains unchecked, resulting in exhausting every aspect of a thing without taking the most simplest route. This weakness is a strong result of why her craft can take longer than it should at times. Working at the detective agency, though, breaks the habit since quick thinking is heavily preferred and gets her out of situations.

Ebele owns a jewelry shop that sells precious stones along with salvaging metals and other materials to create jewelry.
She obtains uncut stones through buying them from people at a decent price, along with contacting her university for sources in-relation to that. However, she struggles from time to time with securing funds as a whole, which explains a part of why she became Swanson's assistant. For salvaged materials, she goes pretty much everywhere, but won't take anything like car parts or the like (not her thing).
Half of the shop displays finished products of her own hand while the remainder is the workspace that produces such products is hidden behind a bolted door. Since she works with dangerous machines to create her works, that door is kept locked to prevent any accidents that may come from being interrupted.
She works relatively slow, perhaps even slower than others, on the detail of the jewelry pieces being made. (Update: she's getting better at speeding up her work process. )
Private Eye Assistant:
Ebele's job as P.I. Swanson's assistant is to, of course, aid him in cases he takes from clients. She is generally seen dressed in a similar manner as Swanson, but can detach herself if the situation calls for it. She'll sometimes even dress differently due to the very lax dress code to begin with, which plays to her advantage towards unsuspecting people.
The overall relationship between her and Arnie are relatively well due to the fact that they're friends, but sometimes that becomes strained due to some influence of her father. Arnie's afraid of him to some degree and will do things with him in his thoughts that have a tendency to annoy Ebele in order to keep her from completely entering his world.
Some rules, as a result, are strict. Ebi carries a loaded pistol on a gun holster that's visible, but is forbidden from using it since it serves as a backup for Swanson to use. She actually can't use it, either, since she's never used a gun before. (Updated: she knows how to use a pistol, now, but is now exclusively used as a last resort). Ebele's also forbidden from looking through any black manila folder in Swanson's possession since it contains dangerous information.
Ebele's bear instincts also take place during certain cases, but especially so when it comes to the dangerous ones. She tends to turn up the dial on being aggressive and will be heavy with her hits to defend herself.

Cares A LOT about his daughter, is concerned that she'll get hurt just like her mother. Cares about him the same way and wishes that he didn't worry about her too much. Both work together on P.I. cases and practice martial arts together.
• Sydney Darell: the family friend. However, the Roderick family been acknowledged him as a family member, so that's outdated. Ebele considers him to be another father, seeing that he has that within him whenever it comes to her, Harry, and Hannah. She calls him "pops". Is an airline captain, travels internationally quite a bit. Is French and teaches her a little at times.
• Iris Roderick: Ebele's late mother. She was a sculpting professor at a university. Quite talented and a very sweet woman that helped Ebele cope with her phobias and trauma regarding a kidnapping incident. Was her best friend, so her death really hurt her almost as much as it did her father.
• Renee Roderick: Ebele's younger aunt. A former homicide detective-turned private investigator. The two of them get along pretty well, often going shopping with Hannah and their female friends. Gives the most brutal advice on how to deal with men.
• Bernadine Roderick Ebele's older aunt. A former government agent that is declared officially dead, but is hiding in the underworld of the city. She didn't know her too well since the last she saw her was when she was five, but Ebele remembers her being a very goofy woman.

• Her raven companion is named Rice. He's a talkative bird that poses as her bodyguard, for he is capable of shapeshifting into a bulky, 9-ft raven for her protection. He refers to her as his mother and is very attached to her.
• Ebs can't fight for long periods of time since she has stamina issues. She’ll have trouble breathing and even collapse from exhaustion.
• Ebele is also sensitive about her mother's death, and prefers that no one brings it up. Though, she's more likely to loosen her lips about it moreso than her father, but it has to be approached carefully.
• The hydrangea tattoo on Ebi’s left leg formed when she thought about her mother in a dire situation. For the Rodericks, the relationships they have with their bear selves have a tendency to be attracted to flora as a representation of their power. Unlike others in her family, though, her markings are permanent, remaining there even when she's done tapping into her bear side.

Rambunctious, proud, and an overall goofball child is what Rice is. Once you get past his defensiveness, that's what you're dealing with. He's also not afraid to speak his mind and will do so without concern.
His mature side tends to tap in where situations count, though, but usually is present in his giant form where he feels his size can help him back it up.
Work Behavior:
Ebele's Bodyguard:
Simply put, Rice is not the one. His job is to protect Ebele, who he considers to be his mother since she took care of him and continues to. She's the one that opened the door for him being a member of the Roderick family, so making sure no harm comes to her (and by extension, anyone in the family, if need be) is his way if expressing his gratitude.
His giant form is 9', with a wingspan that's nearly 30 feet across, and beak and talons strong enough to crush and hurl a car. Rice won't stop, either, until there's no longer a threat, so whipping up strong winds, hurling large objects, pecking, scratching, hitting people with his wings...Anything goes. At least three people have died from him, something he has trouble coping with sometimes, but it was all because Ebele could've died from them.
Detective Agency Member:
Rice's position is to do the odd jobs only he's capable of doing while on a case. What he typically does, though, is do aerial surveillance, spying from windows and stalking people of interest (as much as he can without being painfully obvious, anyway).
Notes:
• Cheddar cheese, figs, and crackers are Rice's favorite snack.
• He tends to squint at people that he's suspicious of.
• Rice refers to Ebele as his mom, so typically ends up calling other members of the Roderick family by their titles respectively. So Tyrone to him is his "grandpa" and Harry is his "uncle", for example.
• His voice tends to get deeper in his larger form.
• He has his own bed, but when he was a baby used to sleep in a cage.
• When Rice says that he'll sit on people in his smaller form, it lacks context to people that are in the dark about his larger form. For those that do know, though, its a rather dark threat that expresses his anger to the fullest.
• Rice has a tendency to act embarrassed when he genuinely likes someone new.

Kind of a mystery, aside from what's currently known. The only things that are noticeable is that she's incredibly docile, is very comfortable around people, and can actually understand the language Ebele and co. speak too well.
Update:
A highly intelligent, sentient being that is very vocal exclusively towards her dislikes, such as where her true home is. Otherwise remains quiet, quiet enough for Ebele to believe that she was an ordinary bear, later mute when she found out where her home was.

Notes:
• Doesn't like her home, which is a top secret gated facility that was formerly an abandoned research lab. She escaped but doesn't divulge any details about that. All she wants Ebele and Arnie to know is that she hates it there and wants to stay with them.
• Her appearance evokes innocence, but she's not. She is still a bear and has caused harm before, most recently towards Arnold Swanson.
