Two days ago I woke up to an earache. I don’t know why, but I guess it’s because it was a bit chilly and I slept on my right side all night? I haven’t been around loud noises or listen to anything at max volume. The earache wasn’t painful, it just ached. It felt like a person pressing down on a bruise sometimes.
I figured it will pass the next day, but when I woke up my ear was clogged up (and no pain at all). I have had it clogged up before, such as when I was sick months ago (or went swimming two or three years ago), but this time it was a bit different because it muffled out the sounds. It’s a bit spooky to a not hear clearly on my right ear. Whispers or softly spoken words and sounds are barely audible to me.
I don’t think it’s an infection, so I may have ruptured an eardrum because there’s some evidence for it. Either way, I won’t be getting my hearing back until it’s healed. From what I heard it may take up to 6-8 weeks (or a month or two depending on how bad it is, if there’s an infection and so on). It’s times like this that I wish there was free health care so that I can just go to the doctor to make sure there’s nothing else wrong.
