I’m surprised. This is the longest my face has been clear of acne in years. Usually I get a pimple or two, but I haven’t gotten any in the entire month. That’s super rare for me. It’s not like I started a diet or tried an entire new skincare routine for that miracle to happen. I just didn’t think that altering two things would make such a big difference.
The main factor for battling my acne is that I use AcneFree Severe Acne Treatment System. But sometimes I run out of one or two of the products from the system kit. Such as the Retinol Complex cream which is a night formula and it comes in a small one ounce tube. The other is the Cleaning Wash which contains advanced micro-benzoyl peroxide and it comes in a four fluid ounce bottle.
So what I do is substitute another product when those are gone until I finish with the rest of the products in the system. The reason I do that is because it would be a waste if I bought a new system kit when the other bottles are still in use and by the time I finish them the new kit would be close to expiring.
I substitute the finished face wash with another and this time I wanted to try Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser in Pink Grapefruit. It has a strong scent of grapefruit, but I feel like it does a decent job in washing off all the dirt, sweat and oils from my face. Next, I use the AcneFree Corrective Toner which helps to remove any leftover oil and impurities from my skin. Then I use the AcneFree Maximum Strength Repair Lotion which is ultimately what prevents my acne in the first place. It has 10% Benzoyl Peroxide that works 24/7 to keep you acne free, kills bacteria and helps reduce excess oil (which is good for my oily skin). Usually I put on Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 15 after that, but I’m thinking of dropping it because I find that it makes my skin look super oily at the end of the day. So I leave that out, especially if I’m staying indoors and that’s pretty much my everyday morning routine this summer.
As for the night, after I wash my face with Neutrogena I use Dr. Dense Advanced Firming Facial Pads with actizone firming factor and then the Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer which has salicylic acid. I know it’s a random combo to substitute the Retinol Complex cream (which stimulates cell turnover for healthy skin renewal, helping skin look softer, cleaner and healthier), but it’s works for me. The facial pads firms and tighten my face, reducing my pores, lines and wrinkles. The Clean & Clear moisturizer works great as a night time lotion since it’s light and absorbs quickly with no greasy residue.
Once in a while I do use a facial scrub and mask, such as the Soap And Glory Scrub Your Nose In It Facial Scrub Pore Refining Formula (I have the discontinued version - the pink tube which works pretty great, but I don’t know if the newer version is different) and Acnefree Therapeutic Sulfur Mask.
Overall, that’s my current skincare routine and I wanted to type this down to keep track of what products I used and see how long it will last. It’s a new month and I hope this lasts forever.
