In Vain
________________________________
Goodbye little bird, Goodbye I'm sorry we couldn't save you.
Yes... A bird has died. We found it on the way back home, from school. I was finished doing a Dutch-test. And along the way home, I bumped into the siter of an old classmate. The girl is called Karin. So Karin and I were talking with glee, and suddenly, there was a loud "poof" on the grass. There was this vertical line, in my eye. So we both thought there had fallen something. And yes, when we looked, we saw it was a little bird. The little bird was still breathing and stuff, but it didn't flew up when Karin picked it up. So we didn't know what to do! And adding the cat that was glaring at it, didn't make it any better. We didn't know whether it was still alive, we knew it would die. But we couldn't just leave it to serve as food! So we took it along. She held it in her hand, cycling the last 3 kilometers to Schoonebeek. And she told me that she knew an old-birdkeeper. He could take a look at it. So we went there. But when we got there, the bird had already died. So she said she would bury the poor little thing, and well... End of story.
Poor little creature... It wasn't even a young one. It wasn't a newly born bird or anything. I sure hope it wasn't a parent, leaving it's young ones behind... confused It just fell! Poof, it did. And ... It might have been a part of nature, but when man is there, why not help a little? But it was in vain... Sadly ^^;;;; ________________________________
