"Stay here in the room," I said to Nogard. "This muzzle is more sensitiezed to smells than my own snout."
"Are you saying we smell bad?" Nogard asked.
"No," I said. "There's something I need to check into. Just...just stay here with LeRoy and the girl."
"Shall I come with you?" Nissa asked.
"No, you stay here too," I replied.
"Becareful," LeRoy growled.
"I know," I replied, leaving the room. Going outside, I stood on the porch and scented the air. Someone was just outside the range of Nissa's sensors and they were carrying a stench that I could not place--not yet anyway.
Sticking to the shadows, I followed the scent into a clearing with two men. One had long red hair pulled back into a braid and the other had blacked tweaked hair. Both were wearing rather expensive suits and both had a weapon in a sheath.
"See?" the redhead said. "I told you the scent would draw the dragon."
"Quite so indeed," the black haired one replied. "And my my addition to the scent should affect the demon in three...two...one..."
Blinking, I said, "Demon? There's no..." Staggering a step, I said, "Whoa...the hell?"
"We'd better get her before she has a chance to use either power," the redhead said, approaching.
Suddenly realizing the men as slayers--one as a dragon slayer the other as a demon slayer--I growled and said, "Stay back if you value your lives!"
Ignoring me, the two men suddenly surged forward. Before I had a chance to react, the men shoved their swords into me.
"You're both rather...well dressed for slayers," I said, biting back the intense pain.
Ignoring me, the redhead said, "She should pass out in a second or two. After that we can use her to draw out Wynn."
What do they want with Wynn? I thought as I fell into darkness.
7 hours later editGroaning, I opened my eyes...and found myself hanging from a swing of sorts. When I tried to transform into my dragon form, use my powers, or make any movements to free myself; hundreds of thousands of volts of entergy surged through my body. And, the chains were forged of scales from the ten dragon clans and infused with holy power.
"Why do you hurt yourself like that?" the redhead asked.
Saying nothing, I simply glared at the man.
"She's a demon, she knows no better," the black haired man replied.
"I am a dragon," I growled. "Captian Dragon of the Nerissa Altsoba."
"And the last true water dragon alive," the redhead said. "Well soon to be anyway."
"What do you mean by that?" I growled.
"The green haired neko demon she's with is on the top of Maihell galaxy's most wanted list," the black haired man said. "She killed half a planet and if someone named Lex hadn't gotten her first, we would have."
"Bullshit, Wynn wouldn't do that," I replied.
"She did and now she's been finally tracked down," the black haired man said. "And since we're having trouble finding her, we thought we'd use you to draw her out."
"You don't know who you're dealing with do you?" I chuckled. "It's not Wynn you should be worried about."
"I know who you are," the redhead said. "And when this is over, I'm taking your scaly hide back to my castle to be tacked on the wall next to your brother's."
It took a few minutes for that to register. "My baby brother had survived the planet blowing up and then YOU KILLED HIM?!"
"Oh aye," the redhead replied. "I'm surprised you haven't recognized me yet. My name is Dragonslayer Alaric Cathal."
"Cathal?" I muttered, trying to remember. Like lightning, the redhead's name flashed through my mind, bringing to surface old memories. Thrashing despite the electricity, I bellowed,
"YOUR FAMILY IS THE BANE OF MINE! I WILL KILL YOU I PROMISE YOU THAT CATHAL!"Calmly, the black haired man removed a hypodermic needle from his sports jacket. With no warning whatsoever, he jabbed it into the point where my neck met my shoulder and injected some kind of tranquilizer into me.
