I had followed Wynn, and when she told me (and Shal, though i swear she had started off for home) to at least stay outside the fence, i listened. And followed her from outside the fence. I couldn't see exactly where she had gone, until there was this huge explosion. Then I heard strangling sounds, and found the two men I'd seen earlier drowning in water that magically surrounded them. It was then that I knew Dragon was all right. So I decided, especially with those two dead, that it wouldn't hurt to go find Wynn and Dragon now.
So I flew over the fence, and looked around. I saw Dragon holding Wynn just outside of the building that was blown up. I landed next to them, and, seeing no hurt on Dragon any longer, or on Wynn, asked Dragon what was wrong. She... just shook her head. I don't know what is wrong with Wynn, but Dragon knew why I had come- to try to help. Her shaking her head like that meant that I could not help.
I looked at Dragon, who looked truly concerned about Wynn. Unable to speak, a single tear fell from my eye, as I flew off.
My eyes burned, as I could not face the fact that once again, I was useless to those people who meant the most to me. I spotted Shal outside the fence, and felt too distraught to stop, when I saw her sink to her knees. Wiping my eyes, I flew down to her in a spiral, and landed in front of her. I knelt down to her level, and sensed her. She was unharmed, which meant something else was the matter.
"Shal?" I asked, voice heavy still with distraught, "Shal, what's wrong?" I asked, worried about her.
Though no one might know it, I felt a close bond with Shal. Her mother was also my godmother. We were both protected by the same group of people, as if we were unable to protect ourselves. And there was also something I could feel within Shal... a kind of dormant power, not unlike my own untapped powers.
I sat there with Shal, and tried to help her.
