My talk with Nissa ended all too shortly, with the arrival of Holly. There really was no more to discuss with Nissa about Wynn. She... was a mystery. Yet, I sensed that there was something I was missing.
However, I did stumble upon a tidbit of gossip between Nissa and ANTIE. Apparently, there were not adoption papers for Dragon on me after all. Dragon and Nissa had collaborated and, pretty much, made them up. My father had told me many times that Dragon was my godmother, so this had made perfect sense. Yet, well... I felt a bit uneasy after I caught that. Nissa and ANTIE seemed unaware that they had said anything I hadn't known. So... I'm just being left in the dark by accident, huh?
Argh.
Suddenly, ANTIE turned to me.
"Intruder." she said, very seriously and calmly, and at the same time, quickly.
"What?" I asked, startled, "here?"
"No. At home. I'm afraid..." her eyes lit up for a moment, and then her body began to slump to the ground. I jumped at her, to try to catch her in her fall, but she stood back up again.
"Sorry, Rose." She said, straightening her clothes. "The main power to the house has been cut off. Auxillary power to the bunker has been activated. All security systems in effect. Bunker is sealed."
I sighed.
"Well, that's good, I guess."
ANTIE nodded.
But I was still worried. Who would break into my house and cut off the power?
"Do you have any surveillance you can activate?" I asked her.
She paused a moment before responding.
"I can turn on the internal cameras, but the intruder is already taking them out one by one. Intruder is searching the whole house and taking them out... wait, I think there is more than one person now in the house. Switching to heat sensors." She paused again, only for a second this time.
"Yes, there are five intruders in the house. They seem to be removing any cameras and microphones in the main part of the house. One has stopped by the basement door."
"Dangit!" I said. "This is not good. Hmm. ANTIE, will they be able to take out your heat sensors?"
ANTIE shook her head. "Very unlikely. They are installed in the roof tiles. They will not be able to detect them, as they have a very low power input and are virtually indetectable."
"Great. We can watch them, then. We have a small advantage. Let's go."
Nissa heard the whole conversation, so I told her to tell Dragon that I had gone home, but no more. No need to worry her over a little break-in.
ANTIE could not fly, and there was no way I could carry her. But it turns out that she can run, and carry me and all the pets. Very fast, in fact. But is it going to be fast enough to get us home before they break into the bunker? Or to accomplish whatever they had planned in breaking into my house? I don't know.
