Yesterday I took Ryan to Wendy's for dinner at about...7:30pm. Well this really tall older man with a slight southern accent was walking before us. This little girl in black/white polka dotted clothes and a yellow skirt [yes, she had on a shirt, pants, and yellow skirt...and bright yellow rubber boots] came busting through the door, somehow the guy not only got out of her way, but held the door open and gave a slight bow saying, "There you are, little lady, have a wonderful night!" and gave her a smile that made her giggle. Her mom blushed slightly and also walked through the door.
Then the guy stood there for a sec [Ryan and I were hanging back, waiting for him to go in] and he grins and looks over at us and said, "Well I don't want to stand here all night holding the door open."
Laughing, we both walked through and thanked him. He gave a second grin and said, "Wouldn't I make a great butler?"
I laughed and said, "I'd believe it" and he grinned even wider.
We went to go get our food and Ryan asked where the guy had gone. He was no where to be seen, so I suggested he'd gone to the bathroom. Later, when we were leaving with our food the guy was right there again and gave an apology for not getting the door for us when we were leaving [he was exitting the bathroom]. o.o
Ryan was almost giddy with how much he thought that guy was awesome and I was amused. Its not very often anymore you see a guy go that extra step to smile, hold the door open, and bid a good day to a lady, so I was really amazed that he'd stuck to that same attitude as long as he had.
And then, of course, I started pondering on how that had all started, why it had started and wondering why it had always been out of place for a girl to do that for a guy. xD
