Our Sabbie passed away on Halloween. We found him around 2 am curled up in his usual position in his usual sleeping spot. He was actively eating, playing and everything right up until his passing. We are left with many questions about this. We are, of course, heart broken. The other ferrets know he is gone too and have been acting depressed.
There is never a good time for a pet's passing, but this was ill timed as we had the wedding planned for Halloween evening. We spent most of the day mourning and there were many tears. We had to do certain things to get ready for the cermony, but it was a somber day.
We got married at the Hyatt in Wichita. We had a honey moon suite. Ambie and I tosse out all the traditions and saw each other in our wedding clothes and on the day of the wedding. She wore a princess leia outfit, coplete with bunned hair. I was an Obi-wan outfit. While we were getting ready for the wedding in our hotel room, there was a knock at the door and it was free sparkling wine and some sweet goodies. Very cool! The hotel room was nice. It even had a 32 inch flat screen TV!
As we were getting ready, I goofed off trying to lighten the mood. Mom helped us both get ready. Jedi's must have a hell of a time looking good because it was near impossible to get my outfit to look right. We had to pin several items to me. We got it all done though and went downstairs.
We had some fotos done, individual shots and such. We then had the ceremony. Alex, the rev, made a special Halloween ceremony for us. She talked about the bond between the spirit world and this world being the weakest on Halloween and we are suppose to wear costumes so that spirits who wish us harm have trouble finding us. She said also that there are certain times when time and space stops and this was one of those moments. She talked about thinking about people who were not there saying some could not make the trip and others were passed on long ago. I got choked up thinking of Sabbie as well as my Grandmother. I miss them both dearly. Oh! Ambie marched in to the darth vader theme!
We did our vows which were cool too. Everything was perfect for the ceremony. We traded rings and of course the kiss! My mom was crying the whole time. We had a private prayer with Mike, Aunt Judy, my dad, mom and Ambie before the ceremony and that started the tears.
We left the room to the closing theme from Star Wars. We went outside and talked a bit before fotos. We all flubbed lines, Alex Ambie and I. Nothing big though. We took the usual fotos with my parents, her parents, Mike (Who would have been he best man but we didn't have attendants) and Alex. The fotographers were very cool. We went into dinner after this.
We had three tables. Alex, Mike, my folks, Ambie's folks Ambie and I at one table. Uncle Steve, Linda, Aunt Judy and Uncle John at anothe table. Aunt Jill, cousin Craig cousin Donyelle and her son were at the other table. Dinner was nice. We had a plated meal where there were three or four choices for a main course, an appitizer and a salad. We had a DJ playing music. He also did a power point montage with pictures of Ambie and I. Fotos from our childhood and fotos together and such. It was put to music and he made it very star warsish with music and the text was scrolling like star wars too.
When we left, everybody had lightsabers and held them over our heads as we walked out. I cannot wait to look at the digital fotos mom took and of course the fotos the fotographers took.
We went to our room and relax and so on. After a bit, I watched "Beerfest" (which was not funny) and we went to sleep.
Today everybody left. We also got Sabbie back from the funeral people. He is in an urn on a shelf in the livingroom. There is also a necklace with a little of him in there for Ambie to wear. We also have fur clippings and paw prints. The funeral people were awesome. They really helped us and we are still grieving, but there is a lot of support materials. There was also a poem about pets going over the rainbow bridge where they live a great life until we join them again. It made me cry...a lot.
