Before the operation, I thought that it would relatively be a walk in the park since I've had bad sore throats and tonsillitis/etcetera.. I also thought that the other adults were just being babies about it, and that I would be on my feet in 3-4 days. I sure was wrong, wasn't I? So much for being painfully optimistic... I never wished I could've been more right about it..
Day 1 - Pain: 10 being kill me, 1 being perfect... /// \ 9-5
I didn't sleep very well this night either. I went to sleep around 1:30, woke up at 4:30 right after my sister went to sleep, and then woke up again at 6:30. I was finally given some more medicine, but I was too dizzy and disoriented to get any myself. I don't really remember this day anymore, not really. I constantly had ice packs around my neck, and I was drinking apple juice even though it was really painful. After 10 minutes of taking the medicine, I felt okay as long as I didn't get up. Since I didn't have real food in my system, it hit me pretty hard. After 3 hours, the last hour before my next dose was torture.Later during the day, I found that I was choking on everything I drank. This was because my uvula had gotten swollen. It looked like a large, red slug sitting on my tongue. It was gross! Wendy was owrried, and Javier looked at it too, but they didn't know what to tell me. It was another sleepless night because it felt like I would suffocate or choke on it in my sleep.. I also noticed these weird yellow things forming where my tonsils used to be..
Day 2 - Pain: 10 being kill me, 1 being perfect... /// \ 8-5
I took pain medicine, antibotics, etcetera that day. I was very, very dizzy this day, and swallowing anything, even apple juice was hard. Everything was swollen it seemed, and dairy products just made things worse. I tried to drink Capri Sun but it hurt a lot. I asked for a bendy straw, but there was none available. I missed talked and drinking without effort. I was constantly drinking and being delerious.
Day 3 - Pain: 10 being kill me, 1 being perfect... /// \ 8-4
Another fun-filled day of always being dizzy. At least it was cloudy this day so it wasn't too hot in my room. I had to lay on my side to be able to drink anything. I also researched the tonsillectomy, the post-op and everything. I read various stories on other people's accounts and complaints, and found that what I was going through was actually pretty normal. However, it always seemed like there was something stuck in my throat, and I could never get it to come up or to go down. I was missing food terribly, and I was loving jello like it was my best friend in the world. I missed my friends, and I missed feeling 'normal'. I was either in extreme pain or very dizzy, and always hundry. I tried eating soup, but I could barely get in a few bites. Tomato soup was good, even though supposidly it isn't the best thing. Oh well.. I also got in some white grape juice.. I also missed all the foods I used to be able to eat, like chips, sandwhiches, chinese, ravioli.. You named it, I missed it. I was watching a survivor man. He was cooking up snakes/turtles.. I was so hundry, I would've eaten it if I could. How sad is that? I was visited by Hime-san throughotu these days, but when and how long seems to blur together. I also recal she went to go see a stupid turtle movie.. stare Yes, you get stared at for that. Day by day the pain lessens, but I don't seem to be healing quick enough for me.
