After reading a friend's journal, I came to realize something...
A) I cannot spell. B) The Human race is a species that lives for the now C) The world is screwed up
To defend these three points, I give you reason.
A) Firefox has a spell checker. Every thing I type is full of little red lines. ^^;;
B)How often have we ever thought ahead to what our actions may cause? We burn fossil fuels and non-renewable resources like theres no tomorrow, despite the fact that its destroying the environment. Atomic weapons and nuclear power create wastes that cannot be removed and are skogging up the planet at rates too fast to even describe. And yet, we keep on truckin'. Never mind that in forty years Florida will be completely underwater from ocean levels rising as the glaciers melt from the heat of global warming. Never mind that with our current level of pollution the atmosphere will be unable to support human life by the year 3000. Never mind all that. We wanna keep cruising around in our Hummers to drive half a block to go to a party where enough food and electric power will be wasted to feed and power the entire country of Nigeria for a year. Never mind that! Let's party!
C) It seems that people just don't care anymore. This leads back to Letter B. People don't care about anyone but themselves, and thats why we don't bother with protecting the environment. It'll be crapped up in 100 years; what do I care? I won't be around then! Those are the people that get re-incarnated into a species on the brink of extinction so that they can see why they should give a rat's a** about the environment. When you really think about it, the planet was doing fine. Then we had to come along and evolve and screw everything up. Sometimes I begin to think that maybe this isn't the first time. Maybe, before dinosaurs and all that crap, there was another human race, who made the same mistakes and screwed up the plant so bad they all died. Then, Gaea (the earth spirit) was able to regenerate herself for the new animals that came along after the first human race's demise. Of course, we had to come back and now we're screwing it up all over again. Is this the thanks we are supposed to give for this possible second chance? Just destroy Gaea all over again?
Think about extinction; all of an animal is dead, they will never be back, and thats the end. They died in the body, and they will die in memory as we continue to ruin the planet for all forms of life. Take for example the Honshu Wolf, native to Japan, now extinct. They were killed out by industrial expansion into their home territory. All of their food sources died from pollution expelled from the newly-built factories. This is one creature, a beautiful work of art in living form, feeling the pain as it slowly starved to death due to the humans greed and constant want for more. Put yourself in the Honshu's paws. Imagine what that would be like, slowly watching your family and children starve as you yourself begin to do so, too. The feeling you would get, looking up at the smoggy green sky as you mourned the death of your youngest pup. The feeling you would get as you lay, dying, in a rubbish heap, watching your friends die around you. Imagine this and then maybe, just maybe, you will start to think differently about how you use resources.
