This is a story I've been working on for a while but I don't think its any good, so that's why I'm asking you. There's two alternative beginnings.


I was making my way home after school on my usual rout. I could see clouds coming in from the west. Anytime clouds came in the Imperial Valley, people hope it will rain, though usually they just provide shade and pass by in the night.
Someone clasped my shoulder and turned me around rapidly.
"Hey Josh! You're awfully slow today!" said my brother Paul.
I slapped my brothers hand off my shoulder and kept going, "What do you want?"
"Were heading down to the fields tonight, Dad said you have to be there."
"Again? I thought we had enough practice for something that you know will never happen." I turned my head to look at him.
Paul shrugged his shoulders,"You'll never know."
"Like it'll happen." I mocked,"Its way too damn sunny here, there's no way they can show their faces here."
Paul ran ahead of me, "Well be sure to be there
