Well after about 24 hours on the plane we got to Kyrgyzstan. it seemed like a nice enough place even though we werent allowed off base. the base itself was pretty sweet roo. I just hate staying in a big a** tent with 200 other sweaty dudes. luckily we flew out about 2 days later. but not before I had a chance to see some dude from the french army with reno 911 sort shorts on. I was seriously afraid that I was going to see balls. nasty stuff, and it was priceless when he is wearing combat boots with it.
Next we came to khandahar. not a bad place, 4 guys to a room. intermittent internet. a decent chow hall. and of course the ever present smell of raw sewage. apparently some genius put the cesspool about 150 meters upwind of the living quarters. day 2 in khandahar we get a brief about actions to take during a rocket attack. basically stay inside near our gear and get to a bunker asap. Story is that there is some dude known for firing rockets at the base on at 9. He is called 9 oclokc charlie. so the same day we hear about him my company commander decies to have a formation at 845. This foprmation takes place outside and away from our armor. needless to say we heard a boom then an alarm at 9. everyone scrambles to the bunkier until we get the all clear. afterwards we go to a "safer" place to finish upo the meeting. we go inside of a large tent.
good god do I hate my unit.
