Prologue We live in a strange world. There are select people, who have the ability to enter other's minds, control them, their body, and their wishes. The people who have this ability have an increased insight and understanding of our world. In moments, a toddler knows more than an old man. A long time ago, these mystics used to rummage the world, they were everywhere, but they slowly died, now a mystic is very rare, and the age of knowledge has long past, and our understanding of the world has slowly dispersed with it. No, it's rumored that I'm the only mystic left.
When Apsara and Fable were only ten, both of their sets of parents died. The reason? Supposed sudden death. But still uncertain. Before that, both mothers worked side by side in a hospital. One was a doctor the other was a nurse. The fathers had been friends since they met. Both mothers were best friends from the beginning. They got pregnant only months apart. One was expecting twins, but one was disabled, and died at the age of three. The other mother, gave birth to a mystic. The one who gave birth to the mystic was greatly overjoyed, and when the mystic child turned five, she was put to work to comfort the people who could not be cured. The father objected, saying it was bad for a young girl to behold the horrors of some minds. But the mystic child continued to comfort the people until her parents died. The mother who gave birth to twins felt greatly appalled at her inability to measure up to her friend. She felt almost useless now, and her child never received as much attention as the mystic. Now to the children, the two baby girls. Aspara was jealous of her mystic friend at first, but when she thought saw how much it pained her friend to use it, she started to pity her friend. Fable ,on the other hand, was always eager to enter the minds of others, she wasn't allowed much to explore, but the minds of others were always full of mysteries. Forgotten things that she helped remember. And by helping out in the hospital, instead of sitting home with Aspara, her mind grew very powerful. Both went to school, then to gymnastics, and then to the hospital, and then home. Everyday. But her time in the hospital was short lived, for Aspara and Fable's parents were short and mysteriously lived. The two girls were sent to a boarding school, where they lived, for seven years, when our real story begins.
Chapter One
Fable looked drearily at the clock lying on its side next to her and Aspara's bed. The time didn't matter now, because the only thing that Fable read was: You're Late mwhahahaha. Fable pulled the pillow over her head and slid slowly up and off her bed, falling on the floor with a loud thump that startled Aspara enough to scare her out of sleep and onto the floor, too. "Awah? What time is it?" She demanded in a monotone, her brown hair was in a heap of tangles in her hair. "We overslept." Fable said sadly, she noted that her hair was also in a heap on her head, Aspara's eyes grew wide and she scrambled around to get her clothes on and brush her medium length brown hair. Fable stood up and pulled on her clothes as well. A dreaded thought entered her mind. "Today is Friday." "Yeah, you got your stuff already down there." "I was hoping that was all some crazed dream, they get pretty detailed sometimes, you know?" Fable replied in a deflated tone. She ran a brush through her own long black hair. It fell almost around her waist. "I've been dreading it since they told me I had to go, aren't you supposed to go as well?" Aspara smiled and looked at the clock, time was running out, "I was asked, but I don't have to. You're the smartest person in the entire school, and you know it, but you are failing all of your classes." "Not failing, I have straight C's." Fable stated as she pulled on her socks and shoes. She grabbed her jacket and waited impatiently for Aspara. "Why?" "I already know all of this stuff, I don't appreciate people telling me it all over again, like I'm stupid." Aspara rolled her eyes and pulled her skirt on, and gave her hair a final brushing. She motioned to leave. "Ah, I see. So why don't you tell them you're a mystic and just skip straight to whatever you want to do?" Fable waved off the question. "You know I want to become a gymnast. Have to go though high school and college for that." "You waste your mind, if I was as smart as you, I'd be the worlds leading scientist." Aspara scoffed at Fable when they left the girls dormitory area and entered the school area. "Meet me at my locked before sixth hour?" Aspara nodded as both trotted off to their respective homeroom.
Fable dragged herself to her locker, Aspara was already waiting, "I was attacked by a group of rabid preps!" Fable gasped as she pressed herself to her locker and started to enter the combination. "Why?" Fable lifted her shoulders in confusion and tried to open her locker. Distressed she realized she had done it wrong. She started again. "You are the prettiest girl in the school, but you aren't popular. Any idea why?" Fable tried her locker again and failed, also, once again. "Does it matter? I don't like them." Aspara laughed, "Ah that's why." A popular girl named Teagan walked by and waved at Aspara and gave Fable the evil eye. Fable tried her combination one more time and failed again. Enraged, Fable shouted, "Why won't you open?!", and hit the locker with all her might, it opened, hit her in the face, and bounced back closed. "Ow!" Fable held her nose and stared her locker down. "You're so lucky you don't have a mind!" She continued to rub her hurt nose, "Aw, I need my Trigonometry book!" She glanced at the clock. "Drat, not enough time." Fable waved at Aspara as she left.
Fable dragged herself into the class right as the bell rang. "You seem perky today," Mr. Peters said cheekily, almost as if he expected people to laugh with him, "Glad to see you are ready for your trip."
