One day she looked out from her balcony and saw a young gardener. The gardener had just moved to town, so he didn't know the awful stories, whispered in the night. The girl was curious of the man, so she called down to him: "Mister Gardener, Mister Gardner, what doth the flowers smell of?". The gardener didn't see the girl and thought that a faire was speaking to him. He answered "The flowers smell of flowers. Come see for yourself, for they are indescribable.". The girl thought about this for a while and reasoned it was good wisdom. "I cannot, Mister Gardner. I am locked away were no flower doth reach me." The gardner thought quite sad and said "It is a shame then, for a voice as lovely as yours is like a rose, and you are deserving of flowers" The girl bushed as she heard this. No one had ever said anything nice to her before. In this way the girl fell in love with the gardner. They came to speak often to each other, but never did the gardner see the girls face, and still today he wouldn't have if not of what happened next.
