Journey through my mind (feed the detours) Just some random thoughts about myself and occasionally tidbits of scenes that I might use in stories later. Feel free to comment on anything that I write down. :)

Sherlock Holmes
Awesome, awesome movie. As someone who has read the original stories, I approve of this. The characters were well done and portrayed beautifully.
If Guy Ritchie does a sequel, I would not be adverse to seeing it. Or seeing this one again.

The Princess and the Frog
Classic Disney animation is back. I loved it and am willing to see it again.
Nay sayers may say what they want ( and they will), I like the movie and the return to 2D animation.

Fantastic Mr. Fox
The title says it all. The movie is great, even if you hadn't read the book before. (someone I talked to while waiting in line hadn't realized that it was based off a book. This makes me sad).
Very funny without using the expected humor most people expect in a kid's movie, voice acting done well by all involved.
I liked how they used the words "cuss" and "cursed" instead of actual swear words. I also liked how the characters actually acted like animals, usually when food was involved.

I highly recommend this movie to everyone.

Zombieland
As a great reviewer once said, "The formula is nothing new, but it's the presentation." This is how I feel about Zombieland. I'm not going to say too much about it. Only that if you can see and haven't, you should. As a zombie snob, it won't present you with anything new or revolutionary. But as a simple zombie fan, it's great and definitely funny. I love Woody Harrelson's character.

This is something I highly recommend and would probably see again. With friends.

It's a good movie. The animation is spectacular and the voice acting is very well done. I think that the story could have used some improvement, some of the elements in it were predictable.
But overall, it was a good movie.

Ponyo and District 9
Ponyo: An adorable Miyazaki film. Follows his usual motifs; the animation was wonderful as always. There are a few hilarious moments, and the voice casting was great. A definite recommendation.

District 9: I don't what I was expecting when I went into this movie, but what I got wasn't it. I liked it. The plot was interesting and the CG was great. Definitely an adult movie, not for kids. Trailers make it look like a science fiction film, but it's more of a drama. I'm not going to say anymore for possibility of leaving spoilers. It is something that I would want to see again.

Pixar's UP
A first-class Pixar film. I loved it. It showed the realization of childhood dreams, realizing how dreams can change, and what happens when we let those dreams become an obsession.
The characters were great and memorable.
The short before the film, "Partly Cloudy", is adorable.
I would definitely see it again.

Star Trek
Totally awesome! You can enjoy it even if you know next to nothing about Star Trek, but knowing something makes it more enjoyable.
The actual plot is different from what I've heard rumored about; that's all I'm going to say about plot.
Good casting all around, good plot, hard to wait for more.
Sorry, still geeking about it a little. Squee!
I highly recommend it.

Watchmen Review
Let me just say, first of all, if you're going to see a geek movie see it with other geeks. Our local comic book store rented out a theater tonight for us. Which was awesome! Now, on towards the movie itself.

Not a bad adaptation overall. Some things were condensed or left out. But it still made a good story. I DO recommend that if you haven't read the comic yet, do so before you see the film. I think it'll make much more sense that way. Also, I DO NOT recommend you take kids to this. It's rated R and it bloody well earned it (emphasis on bloody).
