1: "You're not allowed to be gay" Mom, I'm Bi. "No you're not. I want grandkids and your brother is already gay. I can't believe how selfish you are. Don't you ever tell your dad, he'll be disgusted." (Imagine her finding out I'm actually pan, lol)
2: "Wow, you're really laying your eyeliner on thick now, huh?" Mom, I've been doing my eyeliner like this since I was 17. "You're lying to me too now?" Whatever, it's thick but I like it. "Well, you look tacky"
3: "Oh.... Wow... THAT'S an outfit..." What's wrong with it? "You look like a whore. Cover your chest."
4: "You're really gaining weight around the stomach. Maybe cool it on eating for a few weeks"
5: "I pay for your existence and you need to respect me. You're so ungrateful."
6: "I can't believe you're eloping. Picking out your wedding dress was supposed to be MY job. You're so selfish."
7: Mom, do you want to see this book I made for husbando before everyone else? "Ew...No you can show me when you show everyone else." (Then proceeds to get offended when mother in law wants to see it)
8: "If you invite your brother to your wedding party, don't expect me to not make a scene. I deserve this moment to talk to him" Mom, you can talk to him before or after. Please don't make a scene. "NO! How is he going to know how upset I am unless I do?!" Then you won't be invited. "HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME?"
9: "Which one of these outfits do you like better for your wedding?" Mom, that's a fully white outfit. You're not wearing that, it's not a traditional wedding but I'm still wearing a white dress. (She brought it anyway) "I just wanted you to see it in person" I already told you no. It's white, in a photo or not. "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE BEING SUCH A BRIDEZILLA. YOU'RE CONTROLLING EVERYTHING I DO"
10: (In the middle of Disney World) Mom, it's 11pm, we've been here since 7am... "NO, WE'RE NOT LEAVING UNTIL I FIND THOSE HALLOWEEN EARS I WANT. YOU ARE SO UNGRATEFUL AND SELFISH"
11: "You can't be raped by your boyfriend. Stop making such a scene. You stayed with him, so it's your fault"
12: "I wish I never had you"
13: "I drink to forget you exist. You're nothing but a strain on my wallet"
14: "If you run away, I'll report the car stolen. You'll never get away from me."
15: Mom, I got into a fight. "You need to apologize" They tried to drown me in the bathroom toilet. "You must have done something to deserve it"
16: "Why do you talk like that? Are you retarded? Keep your mouth shut otherwise people will think you didn't go to school" (I have aspergers)
17: (When I was diagnosed with aspergers) "Don't you DARE tell anybody. It's not something you should be proud of and no one will like you"
18: "I don't want you sitting on the bike with your dad. Go home with grandma and her friends." Mom, she's wasted and idk who those guys are. "No, you're not taking my seat on his bike. That's MY seat. Walk home if you don't want to ride with them"
19: "You didn't vote for Trump, are you stupid? You're a ******** idiot."
20: "You should stop wearing glasses. They make you look ugly."
I was feeling a little spiteful with this post in remembering a big reason for me being in therapy... but also, never let ANYONE beat you down. You are worthy of love and things will get better.
