"Well, I'm off to do my job. Nanoka, you watch over Momoi and sis for me while I'm gone."
She would always say this before departing from home. All I ever do in this place is lie down on my sort of decent bed and dream. Dream of what life would have been...if only she hadn't arrived.
I've strayed so far away from my real home, I don't even know where it is anymore. I guess it doesn't matter so long as I have my necessities to survive. Thankfully Aiko's letting me stay here with her frail daughter and some reclusive anime and manga otaku.
My old friends used to call me the pink-haired girl because of my pink hair. My hair isn't naturally pink; my mom dyed it for me when I was young using a dying formula that's said to stay on for years. I guess she wasn't kidding about that. I haven't seen a single speck of my naturally black hair in a while now. I'll have to live with it, I guess.
My room here is surrounded by dark shades of blue. It kind of makes me think of the skies outside and also of the future with numerous conveniences utilized in everyday life. I would go outside and experience the blue sky myself, though I wouldn't want to leave Aiko worried about my disappearance.
It's boring here in this home. Maybe I should do something instead of lying here all the time.
I sort of wonder why Aiko always asks Nanoka to watch over us. She rarely leaves her room, and to top it all off, she doesn't even do anything in the house besides stay in her room and do who knows what in there. In curiosity, and also as an excuse not to daydream about the past so much, I knock on Nanoka's door. Though I can hear something, presumably a TV, as well as Nanoka's occasional laughter.
"What're you doing in there, Nanoka?" I say, feeling more like I'm talking to the door rather than the girl on the other side of it. "Nanoka? Can you hear me?" Then the TV mutes.
Irritated, she responds from her room, "Can't you see that I'm watching something right now?" As the TV unmutes, I go to the door and open it, only to find that the door barely opens up a crack as the sounds of what seem to be chains rattle on the other side. The TV stops again, accompanied by more chain rattling. Nanoka cracks open the door just slightly so that her face can be seen. "Go away! You're making me miss my precious show!"
How she could care more about the show itself than the 3 other members of this home, let alone my curiosity as to what she really is doing in there bothers me. Nonetheless, I appeased her with whatever she was watching and just went back into my blue room and on to my bed.
