Location: Mike’s home
Time: Noon

“*sigh*, nothing to do today.” I said kicking back on my couch. Mayuno and Calista had gone with the Nobodies to show them the rest of Gaia. I bet right now, Mayuno was showing Roxas how handsome he looked in a tuxedo. And also, I’m sure, Roxas was bright red. I laughed at the thought. “Hmm…well,” I said, jumping off the couch, “since there’s nothing to do, better go on patrol.” I hit the button on my watch as my armor attached itself to me. I walked outside and locked the door. I got a running start and jumped into the air, my boosters activating and allowing me to fly. I flew low to the ground, and as I got closer to the city, I sped up and took to the skies.

I flew all around the city. People looked up and pointed at me, amazed to see someone flying since the mini-UFOs had lost there ability to fly last year. I waved to them and kept flying, kinda slow so I didn’t miss anything. I hovered in spot for a moment to think. “Even the town is boring.” I thought I heard a kid crying, and looked back and forth, searching for the kid. Then a big, red balloon bumped into me. “Uh…oh!” I said, looking down to see a small boy, teary-eyed, holding his mother’s hand. He was amazed to see me. I hovered down with the balloon and knelt down in front of him.

“Here ya go.” I said, handing him the balloon. He took it and sniffled again, looking at me. “Here, watch this.” I said as I grabbed the bottom string of his balloon. “Now hold still.” I tied the string up and knotted it so it wouldn’t fly away again. I stood up and bent over to rub his hair a little bit. “Now don’t lose it.” I said, shaking my finger towards him.

“I-I won’t.” he said, smiling slightly, “Thanks mister.”

“Thank you very much,” the mother said, “here, take this.” She handed me five gold pieces. “No ma‘am, I won’t accept this. I do this work because I care.” I looked back at the boy, still partially sad. “Why don’t you use that money and buy him some ice cream or something?” At the word “ice cream” his face brightened up. The mother nodded towards the kid and they strolled away, the balloon bouncing in the slight breeze.

That’s when I heard gunfire. The red balloon sped up and disappeared out of my sight. I noticed people running out of a department store. I jumped into the air and air dashed to get speed in my flight. I flew around to the top of the department store. I watched as three men with automatic rifles left the store and fled into a car. I also noticed their hostage. It was a young girl, but from the height I was at I couldn’t tell who it was. My visor came down and I zoomed in closer. I still couldn’t see very well, so I zoomed in much farther and then I knew who it was. It was Miome.

I clenched my left fist and slamed it on the ledge I was on, making a nice dent. A dent in solid stone. There is but one thing you do not use to mess with me, and those are my friends. I looked at the men more carefully. The leader was slightly thin and tall, with long hair pulled back. One of the others was extremely thin and average height, while the other was overweight and tall. As they got into the car, the fat one smashed his head on the roof of the car. I fell backward laughing my a** off. “Apparently he’s also the stupid one!” I yelped. Then I wiped my eyes, clearing away the tears of laughter, and concentrated on how to get Miome out of the situation. I followed them, high above them so they would never see me. After twenty minutes of twists and turns, they went into an old run-down warehouse. I stayed on the roof, sending all power to my over shield, under shield, and armor. I also sent some to my arms, as I was not about to use my beam blades, but instead needed and extra “punch”.

I crept down the wall, grabbing on to loose bricks until I came down to a window. Nothing inside. I went down to the next one. I saw a chair in there. It was dark, but I could tell Miome was tied to it. I slowly opened the window, and without making a sound, came up behind her and clasp my hand over her mouth, silencing her scream. I walked in front of her and put my finger to my mouth, signaling to be quiet. She nodded in response. She was terrified, as she was shaking. I walked over to the side of the doorway, the light thump…thump…thump, of my footsteps were not audible to anyone outside of the room. I pressed my head up against the wall to hear the robbers on the other side.

“I get her first!” one of them complained, “It was MY idea to take her!”

“I’m leadin’ this here group, so I get her first!” the other butted in.

“Well…I tied her up. And had to carry her kicking and screaming too.” the last said. This one must have been the stupid one, since he had long pauses and a deep, dumb voice.

I inched away from the door as I heard, “Good point, you can go first.” come from the door. The fat guy burst through the door and slammed it shut. He walked up to Miome.

“Deh-heh, you’re not gonna like this, but I really don’t care, heh heh!” He reached out with his left hand and rubbed the side of her face.

I snuck up behind him while Miome winced at the thought of what he would do. I tapped him on his left shoulder. “Huh, what?” he said, turning around like the big oaf he was. “Hi.“ I said as I waved to him, and before he could get it through is tiny brain, I cracked him in the face with my right hand. I had so much momentum, I took out what was left of his front teeth and shattered his jaw. He dropped to the floor with a thud, unconscious. I went to tend to Miome when I realized the sound would attract the others. I turned around right as they burst through the door, guns blazing. I had to act fast to save Miome.

I spun my left foot around, kicking the chair into the air, then cracked it towards the wall with a kick and she landed, still upright, against the wall. I turned around right as they opened fire. The bullets went into my armor, and I fell to the ground face down. They laughed and walked up to me. The leader put his foot on the back of my head and laughed.

“Ha ha ha, the fool couldn’t even take a few bullets, ha ha ha.” he laughed as he dropped his rifle.

“Uh, b-boss…” the other asked, looking at me more closely, “if he was dead, how come there’s no blood?”

“What!?” the leader flipped me over, and they stared, amazed at what they saw. “Th-there’s no bullet holes! Not even dents!” I flashed my eyes open and cracked them in the head with my hands. They lay on the floor, half conscious.

“Don’t you know it’s bad to pick on girls,” I said as I untied Miome, “what did your mother’s teach you?” I took the rope that had tied up Miome and tied all three of them up. I took the large one’s head, opened the window more, and right as he regained consciousness, I slammed it down on his head, knocking him back out. I snapped the leg off of one of the chairs and used it to keep the window from opening by putting it above the frame, so that way it would stop it from moving, no matter how hard they tried. And with being all tied up, none of them could do anything. I simply walked out of the room, called the police, and screamed, “HELP ME, HELP, THEY’RE GONNA KILL ME IF I-” and hung up.

“That should get them here quite fast.” I said to Miome.

“Th-thank you so much!” she said to me, “I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t saved me!”

“I do,” I said nodding my head, “and believe me, you don’t wanna know.”

“Thanks again. Um, could you give me a ride home? This is kinda far to walk.”

“Sure,” I said, “no problem.”

We walked outside and she looked around the parking lot. “Where did you park?”

“Park?,” I said confused, “Park what?”

“…Your car?” she said, “You do drive, right?”

“Nope, I got another way of getting around.” I said, nodding. I walked up behind her and scooped her up in my arms. I broke into a run and jumped. I was about 10 feet high when I gave a boost and flew higher. She was so amazed to be flying. I was so amazed that one day I’d have one of the Nagakura’s in my arms! I stopped daydreaming and concentrated on flying. Miome looked at me.

“Well, I‘m Miome. Who are you?”

My altitude plummeted ten feet in two seconds. She didn’t know it was me. I was ready to bawl. I was about to say, “It’s me, Mike!” when I thought about something. If this got out, I would not only be giving them flights around the city all day, but if the Federation knew this was me, they’d go after them too. I had to think of something fast.

“I…I’m Z-Zero.” I said, thinking faster than I could speak.

“Zero…” Miome pondered, then smiled. “That’s a pretty *sexy* name.”

I almost dropped from the sky. Holy crap, did she, did she call me “sexy”!? I could have done loops if I wasn’t carrying her. I began to fly a little bit faster to her house.

When we got there I set her down. She unlocked the door and went in. “Stay there, I’ll be right back.” she said. I waited outside. I put my visor up and my face plate down. I was waiting to see if she knew it was me. When she finally came back, she had a bag of gold on her.

“Oh no, I don’t take rewards.” I said shaking my hands.

“Now now now, I want you to have this.” she said smiling. “Ok now Zero, close your eyes.”

I closed my eyes. “(Well, I’m still Zero to her,)” I thought, “(guess without my wild hair I look a lot different. Plus these slashes going down my face to my neck probably change my features.)” That’s when I felt a warm sensation on my right cheek. I opened my eyes to see something unbelievable: Miome had kissed me on the cheek. I tried to hold it in.

“Uh, um-a, heh heh, t-thanks.” I said scratching the back of my head. She laughed

“I’m going to find my sister, Mayuno,” she said, “see ya later Zeeroooo.” And with that she ran off.

I flew home and went inside. I powered down my armor and collapsed on my couch. “Now if ANY of them find out it was me, I’m dead.” I said laughing slightly. This was WAY enough excitement for one day. Hmm, as Mike, I’d never stand a chance. As Zero, I can have any girl I want. Oh yeah, watch out Gaia, Zero’s in town!

I was about to jump when the door burst open. I turned around to see Roxas in the clothes Mayuno had picked out for him. There were bright green sneakers, a pair of pants that was blue in the front but red on the back half, a shirt that looked like a big G had been spray painted on it poorly, giant sunglasses, and to top it off, a big rainbow-colored Jamaican hat. And an unhappy smile on his face.

I burst out laughing. “Remind me to buy a camera, cause if you come back like this again, I’m totally taking pictures!” I said, laughing a little bit between each word. He walked into my room, and a few moments later, walked out in his usually black clothes.

“Much better,” he said, “and you remind me to never let Mayuno buy me clothes again.”

We laughed.

“Well, goodnight.” he said as he walked to bed. I plopped on the couch and closed my eyes. This, was one of the best days of my life.
