Seiji was sitting on the roof above his window. It was getting dark out but he was lost in thought.
*Why can’t I get stronger? I’ve been training so hard and yet…* He looked out at the moon.
“Seiji…?” Ai whispered.
“What is it Ai” He answered.
She climbed through the window.
“Hey be careful!” Seiji said.
“I’m fine…Uh Ahhh!” She slipped.
“AI..!” Seiji grabbed her hand and pulled her up.
She hugged her brother tight. “I’m sorry Seiji…” She cried.
“It’s alright…” He sighed.
She cried for a few minutes more. Then she tried to get up but she fell down again.
“Ai are you alright?” Seiji looked worried.
“I…I must have hurt my ankle when I fell.”
“Then I’ll help you down…” Seiji started to get up but Ai grabbed his sleeve.
“Ai…?”
“Seiji I’ll wait until you want to get down.”
“But I… are you sure.”
“Uh-huh.” She nodded.
He sat back down. Ai held on to his arm and rested her head on his shoulder. They sat quietly for awhile.
“Ai…do you think I’m strong enough to protect you?”
“Of course you are Seiji… you’re the strongest person I know.”
“But…”
“He said you weren’t as strong as you could be right? That’s what’s bothering you?”
“Yeah…it is…”
*Hehehe he looks so cute when he acts like this* Ai thought.
“Seiji we’re only genin of course you’re not as strong as you can be, no one is not yet…”
“Yeah you’re right…but still…”
“Seiji if you get strong now all the more strong you’ll be when you’re older!” She smiled sweetly.
“Thanks Ai!” He smiled back at her.
“HEY are you two planning on spending the night on the roof?” Sakura called to them.
“We’re coming mom!” Ai yelled down.
“Hurry up!”
Seiji went in through the window then helped Ai inside. She sat down on the bed while Seiji closed the window. They went down stairs. Ai held on to Seiji’s arm.
“Mom Ai hurt her ankle!”
Sakura came into the room.
“Let me take a look.” She used a medical ninjutsu on Ai’s ankle.
“How’s that feel?”
“Better, thanks mom!” She smiled.
“Dinner’s ready so let’s go eat!” Sakura smiled.
“Alright I’m so hungry!” Seiji smiled.
They walked into the kitchen. The table was set and Neji was sitting at the end of the table. He looked tired.
“All here..! Now we can eat!” He joked.
“Yeah,” Sakura sighed. She was tired as well. They sat down at the table. It was quite for a minute.
“Mama what did Miss Shizune want you and Miss Rei for?” Ai asked.
“It was just an assignment.” Sakura said tiredly.
“Oh…”Ai dropped her head.
Seiji looked at his sister and then at his mother.
“Mom…” He said strongly.
“Huh?” Sakura looked at him.
“Today Itachi spoke to us.” He continued.
“WHAT?” Sakura looked angry. “Did he...”
“He didn’t do anything.” Seiji stopped her.
Sakura looked to Neji. He looked at her and then to his children.
“I don’t want you to speak to him if you see him again. Do you hear me Seiji, Ai?” Sakura looked at them.
“Yes!” Ai said. Then she looked at her brother who hadn’t answered. “Seiji..?” She whispered.
“Yes ma’am!” He finally answered.
“Good.” She looked back at Neji as if saying ‘Do you think they’ll be alright?’
“Mom, why does Miss Rei follow him?” Seiji asked.
“What?”
“She follows him like a slave! I can’t stand it! Why would someone so kind follow such a jerk?”
“Seiji…” Neji frowned at his son because it wasn’t his business.
“It’s a long story Seiji.” Sakura’s face turned kind but in a way sad. “And you wouldn’t understand her reasoning…” She continued. “But you should know so you don’t get the wrong idea about her.” She looked at Neji. He nodded in agreement.
“Mama tell us…” Ai put down her chopsticks.
“I’ll start from the beginning. The Ishida clan is from Konoha. They were a clan of great fighters, everyone in the clan lived for fighting. But the daughter of the head of the clan hated the idea of fighting and killing.” She looked at Seiji and Ai. “The daughter of the headman is Rei.” She said coldly.
“Mama then she’s the heir to the clan.” Ai said.
“No, she isn’t the heir to the clan.” Sakura was saying it so coldly that Ai grabbed Seiji’s hand.
Seiji looked at his sister.
“Why not?” Seiji asked.
“She was disowned by the clan when she was only five years old. She left the village. After that her life was hell. Everywhere she went people were afraid of her even though she was a child.”
“Seiji, Ai you have to understand that people in this world are cruel. They knew she hadn’t done anything but the fact that her clan had was enough of a reason for them to hate her.” Neji said.
“They told their children to hate her and so if they saw her they chased her or through stones at her. But she never fought back not once. One day she was running from a group of boys who were chasing her. That day she ran into my brother, Itachi.”
“But you said Itachi was cruel and hate people who were weak.” Seiji said.
“He does but he saw she was from the Ishida clan so he helped her, took her in, and trained her. She has never left his side since then. He would be dead by now if she hadn’t saved him so many times. But he put her in so much danger. What she sees in him I will never know…” Sakura finished.
“So she fell in love with him didn’t she mama?” Ai asked.
“Yes.” Neji answered.
“But why, why?” Seiji asked himself.
He pushed his chair back and ran out the door.
“SEIJI COME BACK!” Sakura yelled as she ran to the door after him.
“Sakura he’ll come home when he’s ready.” Neji hugged her.
*Oh…Seiji-kun…* Ai thought.

*Why? Why? Why? If he’s such a b*****d! Why would she love him? Why does she let him yell at her like that?* He wasn’t watching where he was running. He ended up at the lake. There he saw Rei and Itachi sitting by the shore. Seiji ducked behind a bush. *they didn’t see me?* He watched them and eavesdropped. Rei was wrapped in his arms.

“Thanks for saving me Itachi. I can’t believe he caught me off…”
“Don’t worry about it, you did fine. And I did promise I would protect you didn’t I?”
“Ummhmm, that’s right!” She smiled and wiggled in his arms. “And you’ve never broken that promise…”
“Hmmm…” He hugged her close. “Sometimes you make me wonder.”
“Oh do I? I guess you need to learn more about me then huh?” She smiled and pushed him back on the ground. She turned to face him and kissed him.
“Rei…” He smiled a smile only worthy of her. Then he pulled her down on the grass by him. She snuggled close to him.
*She really seems happy and so…does he. He really loves…her.* Seiji thought.
Itachi sat up and looked in Seiji’s direction but didn’t see him.
“What is it?” Rei asked.
“Nothing…” He laid back down.
*I better get out of here* Seiji thought as he got up and ran back home. He walked in the gate and saw his mom waiting in the yard. He went over to her and hugged her.
“I’m sorry I ran out like that!”
“You just needed to think…” She turned to him and knelt down. “I used to do that when I was young…”
“Really I got that from you… and not him?”
“Uh-huh.” She sat on the ground and pulled him into her arms. “Let’s watch the stars like we used to, just the two of us.”
“That’s sounds perfect right now.” He said.
Seiji sat back in his mothers arms and she held him tightly. They talked about everything from the Stars to the days of team seven. All the while Neji watched from the window. *You are the best thing he has Sakura and the best chance Sasuke has* He thought.
“Papa…”
“Ai you should go to bed.”
“Did Seiji come home yet?”
“Yes he’s with your mother…Now get to bed.”
“Okay…good night Papa…” Ai yawned.
She went up stairs and crawled in bed and fell asleep. Neji went to bed to but he waited for Sakura to come to bed before falling asleep. It took a while for her and Seiji too come in though.
“Good night Mama.” Seiji yawned as he went to his room.
“Sleep tight Seiji…” She said softly.
Seiji lay awake for a while thinking about Rei and Itachi and even Sakura. He hadn’t understood the story about Rei until he saw her with Itachi. But he still had questions. Like why his mom didn’t want them to talk to him or why Sasuke wasn’t a good person, what did he do that she hated him, that kind of stuff. Everything he knew was turned on its head. *Kira…What why am I thinking of her?* He sat up. *I haven’t thought about her for a long time* He lay back down and closed his eyes. He was in love with her. But since all this stuff came up he wasn’t sure if he liked her that way anymore. His life is changing but is it for better or for worse?
