When I got to his door, I gave three knocks.
The tension is intense as the time goes by. Would he answer the door? Then, I heard a click. Someone is going to open. I can’t bear this. The door opens and the familiar face frowns on me.
“Please, Jason,” I plead. “It’s not what you think.”
“Go away, Ana,” he replied with pain in his face.
He shut the door on my face.
Oh, my goodness, I have hurt him. The only love of my life. I have hurt him. I stood dumbstruck.
“Please, Jason, please let me explain.” Tears poured down my cheeks. Pounding on the door until I couldn’t lift my fists, I collapsed on the floor. My sob became a whimper. I became numb.
Slowly, I stood up and lifelessly willed myself to walk home. I can’t go. Jason needs to understand. I need to explain. I stood in his driveway. Tears continued to stream down my swollen eyes. Then, a sound of thunder came. Lightning struck. Rain started to trickle down. Oh, please pour so I could be wash away. Pain poured as I stood, paralyzed.
