It had only been a couple of hours since our last conversation Moriko had seemed satisfied with my answer so I relaxed a little. I had finally managed to prop my useless body up against a tree and watch Moriko go about the camp disappearing and reappearing in an instant sometimes returning with wood, herbs or some kind of food. When he finally began laying out his supplies, he pulled a small black cracked pot out of a pack leaning against a tree. He filled it with water and set it on a large rock in the middle of the fire. Then he fished through the pack once more and pulled out a small glass bottle holding a white liquid w/ specks of herbs. "Put this on. It will be sun set soon and the bugs that surround this area become active." He handed me the bottle and before long i had rubbed the ointment into my skin. I wasn't sure what was going to happen when I was with Orochimaru I had to be cautious every second because he was unpredictable. Orochimaru ended up killing some of his own subordinates when having a temper. Moriko seemed to sense my restlessness. "We'll start tomorrow. I'll teach u how to survive out here."
"I already know how to survive on my own" I retorted with a slight scowl I didn't want to learn how to search for mushrooms when I should be learning how to fight. "I want to learn how to fight or do u know even know how to fight?" "Well I'm okay. I mean, I'm still alive so I must be doing something right." Moriko said as he put various ingredients into the boiling water. ninja ninja ninja ninja ninja ninja ninja ninja ninja ninja ninja I was about to say something when the bushes separating the campsite and river rustled nosily and before I knew what was happening a figure stepped out into the shade of the towering trees. It was a man about Moriko's age, 20 or so, but the stranger was in bad condition. Blood was running down past his forehead hairline around his eyes and dripping off his chin into a miniature pool of blood on the ground. I couldn't believe I hadn't sense his presence earlier I looked at Moriko but he seemed relaxed I assume that he had sense the intruder long before he had reached our camp site. The stranger suddenly collapsed to his knees and I noticed that water was dripping off his clothes so I knew he had crossed the river. Moriko noticed too.
"Nisemono. I would have thought you would have went around to avoid crossing the river... but now I can safely assume that you didn't have much time... ur out of medicine aren't u?" Moriko said his eyes shaded by his hair as he got to his feet.
The man put his head to the ground in a bow. "I'm sorry Moriko-san. But I haven't had enough time to make my own and I know that you always keep an extra dose handy in case I drop by. I know I just recently asked for help but please."
"You know him?" I asked trying to stand to my feet. I leaned against the tree as I stood up my knees shaking from the stuff Orochimaru had given me.
"Yes. This is Teishu Nisemono. *Don't mind him-* Moriko obviously was talking to the stranger now* I can understand your desperate situation. Luckily I was just brewing up a batch because the last time our paths crosses you took what medicine I had left. Do you have a syringe?" "I'm sorry but no I lost everything because of a series of unfortunate events... I think that if I don't go into hiding I will be killed” Moriko smiled and laughed as he grabbed an empty glass container and funneled part of the liquid from the pot into the container. The liquid looked thin and was colored dark purple. He pulled out a syringe from his pack and sucked the liquid in the container into the syringe. The stranger got up from his bow onto his knees. He brushed the shaggy dark chocolate hair out of his dark brown eyes. The sun started to set and soon it would disappear over the horizon. When Moriko approached, Nisemono stood and gratefully accepted the syringe with a small bow of the head. I watched puzzled by what was unfolding. “Don’t worry about it. You can stay here tonight. That kid and I will help protect you… You hear that kid!!!? That’s our first mission.” Moriko called to me. I gave a slight nod as my body shook slightly. After giving Nisemono the syringe, Moriko pulled a loaf of bread from his pack and tossed it to me saying “Eat. You’re going to need the strength. I caught the food but my body gave out and I collapsed on the ground once again. With a sigh of disappointment I started my meal. Little did I reliaze that it would be the start of a very long and interesting night.
