Black
I seek the rain
I heed its call
I feel its pain
I hear its fall
I fear the sun
And follow the night
I cower far
From any light
They say I’m strange
They say I’m murky
I say they’re fakes
And much to perky
They don’t believe
What they can’t see
They never leave
But only flee
I do not cry
I do not scheme
My eyes are frozen
In silent scream
How can they live
In this world of hate
And still not fear
A sinner’s fate
I do not smile
I always mourn
For those who die
Still full of scorn
My life is clouded
But far from dim
I always fight
But never win
How can you live
And still not know
Once death claims you
Where you shall go?
Don’t get me wrong
I do believe
But still I lament
And still I grieve
I watch them die
I watch them go
And I wonder
Why don’t they know?
I am afraid
Of what I see
But you’re afraid
Afraid of me
I dress in black
The forlorn shade
And I shall wear it
To the grave
