The Vampire And The Mortal
The Vampire And The Mortal: Introduction and Part 1
The alleyway was dark and old. The cobble stones now slippery from the rain. A young girl, sixteen at the oldest, was backing up into the ally, fearing the tall dark figure that stood before her. A deathly pale hand reached out for her, its touch made her stop, her face transfixed in a stupefied gaze, as if she was sleep walking. The shadow moved its head close to the girl’s neck, revealing solid black lips, and two pearly white fangs. The girl stared helplessly into the eyes of this creature as it dug its fangs deep into her neck. The girl slowly closed her eyes as the deep scarlet blood was being drained from her. She died smiling as the creature laid her down slowly on the cobble-stoned path. It then placed a top hat from the ground upon its head, picked up a cane decorated with a golden snakes head on the handle and proceeded to walk out of the ally, licking his jet coloured lips and headed for home, his long black cape blowing wildly in the wind.

Lilly was your average teen aged girl, with no special characteristics other then her beautiful blonde hair, which flowed like a river behind her as she moved.

It was graduation day from her secondary school, leaving her as a sixteen year old with nothing but a home and a dream. She dreamt she would become a scientist and prove that vampires are real. Whenever she thought of those terrors of the night her heart became filled with excitement at the idea of the vampire.

She was walking down a road leading back to her home when a deathly pale hand with black long nails grasped her shoulder gently. She seemed not scared or surprised, but happy as she turned around to see a shadowed figure with a top hat, a black velvet cloak, and wooden cane adorned with a golden snake head on the handle. Lilly smiled widely and hugged the figure, as it hugged back, revealing his face into the daylight. His face was as pale as his hands; his lips were black, cold and dead, twisted in smile, around his eyes circles of solid black where shown strongly by the bright light.

The boy in the cloak and cape spoke happily in a calm and soothing voice.
“Hello Lilly. How was your graduation?” He asked, his voice seemed to betray some malice, which was not present. Lilly then let go of the boy slowly and looked up at him, with him being rather tall, around 6’9.
“It was good Lucias, no one took the piss out of me, but no one congratulated me either.” Her face was a depiction of, not sadness, but mild disappointment. Lucias just smiled widely and hugged Lilly.

“Its okay, you don’t need those idiots to congratulate you, your better then them.
We’d best get home, its getting dark.” His voice was sympathetic and encouraging as he took her back to his home.

Lilly was living with Lucias since he was the closest thing she had to family since her real family threw her out, so Lucias took the role of her legal guardian.

The house was a small, dark place, but both Lucias and Lilly enjoyed their home. They entered the house through a door that looked average, but inside it was a wash with Gothic deqoure. Lucias sat on a small sofa, designed for two and read his book. Lilly then sat beside him and rested her head into his chest. He let one hand leave his book and grasp the back of her head, stroking her golden hair gently. Lilly didn’t notice the coldness of his skin, or if she did she didn’t care for she all she felt was great safety and comfort.

One sentence softly Left lily's red-lipped mouth.
“Lucias, thank you.” She spoke softly as she slipped into an undisturbed sleep, with Lucias watching over her.

The day quickly passed into night, Lucias sat in the same position with Lilly sleeping soundly next to him, her face infinitely peaceful. As the last light of the setting sun grew dark he slowly and silently shifted away from Lilly as not to disturb her calm slumber. He walked slowly to the door of the house, turning slowly and carefully before opening the door, facing Lilly; he smiled slightly and spoke quietly.
“If only you knew.” His soft words were followed by a sigh of depression as he closed the door quietly behind him, moving swiftly into the centre of the town, never slowing down as his cape blew fiercely in the wind. As he walked past an old and broken down church, the white cross hanging above the door way, covered in the dirt and dust of years of neglecting, bent inwards swiftly, making a loud metallic noise ring through that street.
