A day passed and Lucias remained inside of the house, his mind trying fruitlessly to piece together how Lilly could react so positively to the murder of her friend. He did not understand how she could be so calm about the whole ordeal, for he certainly couldn't. While Lucias was confused, Lilly was completely overjoyed about what had happened the day before, she cared not for the slow and agonising death of her friend, she cared only about two things, she had watched a true vampire go about his work, slowly manipulating and then draining their chosen victim, and that Lucias had kissed her so tenderly the night before. She moved her tongue around the inside of her mouth as she could still taste the metal taste of blood from the kiss that Lucias had given to her just after he had finished feeding. Though she knew it was odd, she enjoyed the taste, not to the extent that a vampire enjoys it, but to an unusual extent she loved the taste.
Lilly simply could not control her emotions that day, she would constantly stand in front of Lucias and embrace him, her smile wide as she looked upon him, towering above her with his kindly face staring down upon her. When ever she was near him she felt safe now, safe and happy.
As the day drew slowly on, the sun going down in a blood red flare over the horizon and the moon coming up gleaming white in the night sky, Lucias found himself sat comfortably on the dark purple settee with Lilly in his arms, her eyes looking fondly up into his as she sat curled up next to him, her hands and head on his chest with her hair laying softly around her head.. He looked down at her, smiling lovingly, showing his fangs accidentally as he did so, making Lilly's eyes widen with astonishment and admiration.
As Lucias moved to get up Lilly began to clutch onto him, her face changing from love and joy to one of disappointment, her eyes became wider as she looked at his getting up. A small whine of disapproval came from her when he did get to his feet.
Lucias smiled slight as he began to speak, Lilly watching him carefully and listening intently as he spoke, just so she could hear his voice as clearly as possible.
“Lilly, I wish I could just sit here with you, but I can't I need to go.” He spoke apologetically as he looked down upon the disappointed face of Lilly as he said this, but his mind was made up and he would leave to feed as the pains where starting again. He had to go through this every day of his life, constant pain and then relief when he fed. He slowly made his way to the door when he heard Lilly get up, he turned around, ready to tell Lilly that he had to go alone when he saw she was holding a knife.
Lilly spoke slowly and happily “You need to feed don't you?” She didn't give him time to answer as almost instantly after she had asked she cut herself with the knife, a small cut appearing on her finger, with small scarlet beads of blood dropping down onto the carpet. Lilly smiled widely as she saw Lucias's face change from its normal kindly state to that of a starving man, his eyes following the drops of crimson blood hungrily.
Lucias opened his mouth and began to move forward, his fangs almost jutting out of his jaw, but just before he got to Lilly he stopped, pulling himself back, his face showing signs of an internal struggle. Lucias then spoke slowly.
“Why are you doing this?” His voice was broken and frantic, as the blood was intoxicating to him and it was becoming increasingly difficult to control himself. He continued to fight against his vampritic instinct to feed, but the aroma was overpowering. Lilly simply smiled.
“You need to feed, but I don't want you to leave, so if you feed off me, then we both win.” Her voice was still kind and happy as ever as she spoke, though there was a slight quickness to it, as if she didn't want to have to wait.
Lucias moved forward again, this time instead of baring his fangs, he stuck out his long, pointed tongue towards Lilly's extended and bleeding index finger. Once his tongue touched it the blood began to fall into his mouth, causing yet another internal struggle, he was debating if he should bite down or just have to suffice with licking such a small wound.
Just as he was begging to loose to his blood drinking instincts Lilly's voice ran through his head.
“Its okay Lucias, you can bite down if you really want to.” Her voice was joyful, but seemingly secretive, as if she was hiding something, a voice that Lucias thought did not suit Lilly at all, until he looked up at her face. She had squinted her eyes and had a thin smile on her face as he licked the blood from the wound, her features seemed completely changed from the sweet young girl he knew. He began to pull away from her when she spoke again, this time in a seemingly pleading voice.
“Don't worry Lucias, just bite down, I don't mind, and that surely isn't enough for an entire day.” Her voice now seemed to be filled with some hidden evil and malice. As she spoke her smile began to grow wider, almost splitting her entire face.
Lucias gave in to his vampritic instincts and bit down swiftly into Lilly's already damaged finger, which caused a small gush of blood to erupt from the puncture wound. Lilly's face became shocked for a second, before resettling into another happily deceitful smile.
Lucias sat in front of Lilly, drawing blood out of her finger, for nearly ten minutes, before he believed he had drank his fill of blood for the day. As he moved back up to a standing position he watched Lilly carefully as her face changed back from the unwelcoming smile back to the happy carefree teen she was before Lucias began feeding.
As Lucias began to walk back towards the living room Lilly grabbed his face and pulled it towards her own. Once they looked each other in the eye Lilly kissed Lucias deeply and lovingly. The kiss lasted for only a moment but Lucias felt like it lasted an eternity. He stopped walking as Lilly had started to move quickly into the main room.
Lucias just stood, his face blank, dumbstruck. His eyes gleamed slightly as he stood, staring at the wall at the other end of the hall. He believed for that singular moment that his life was absolutely perfect.
