DarkFire Alchemist's log book.
This is the documents of my life. This is how I live, what I learn...and what I'll do to protect the ones I care for.
...log entry date: 8:17:08
Once again, I’ve found myself in quite a large mess. Recently, I got a message that was stabbed through my door with a shuriken. Someone had stolen my Fenrir motorcycle in an attempt to bribe me out into a fight. Judging from the way it happened, some ninja’s gotten a swelled head and think that they can take on an alchemist. This is nothing new, as battles between alchemists and ninjas go way back, ever since someone first said “Ninjas are better than alchemists!”. Most ninjas can take on an inexperienced alchemist, but as their power grows, alchemists quickly surpass ninjas. The few ninjas that can defeat an alchemist do not fight us, because they are honorable and believe this struggle should end. And then there are those that leave notes impaled into my door.

“God damn ninjas,” I said to myself, “they’ll never learn that alchemists reign supreme.” I was in the city by a basketball court. I was pretty close to where the mystery ninja told me to go. Suddenly I felt a shift in the air current. Something was headed straight for me! I quickly threw myself to the side as three shurikens flew into the ground. I looked up to my left and saw a ninja dressed completely in black clothing standing on a light fixture. His face was completely covered, even his eyes hidden behind black netting.

“It seems death was not yet ready for you yet, alchemist.” he spoke. His voice sounded weird, almost as if he was lowering it on purpose.

“Death doesn’t want me, I’m cool with him. Besides, nothing around here can kill me.”

“That’s where you’re wrong,” he said, “I have trained long an hard to kill an alchemist, and you shall be my first.”

“Geeze, taking on the alpha dog immediately?” I said jokingly, “You’ve got spunk man, but that’ll just get you hurt.”

“Enough!” he shouted, “Now, we duel!” With lightning speed, three kunai were sent straight at me. I smacked them away with my right arm and charged the pole, clapping my hands. I grabbed the pole and transmuted hands out of the top to grab the ninja. He was smart through, and jumped out of the way before they could grapple him. As he flew through the air, three more shurikens flew at me. I dodged two and caught the third on my finger, flinging it back at him. He hadn't anticipated the attack, and I cut his clothing on the right side of his stomach. As he landed on another light pole he looked at the damage, giving me an opening. With a quick clap of my hands, a large fist flew out of the street and smashed into the building right where he was standing.

“Well that was easy.” I said, dusting off my hands. Suddenly there was a black blur that flew out of a window of the building. Another shuriken and two kunai flew at me. I dodged the shuriken while grabbing the kunai. I clapped my hands together and transmuted the kunai into blades, tossing one to the ninja. “Come, let’s finish this honorably.”

“Who are you to talk about honor!” he shouted, his voice a little bit higher then before.

“I might be an alchemist, but I’m not scum.” I said back, “I live by honor and justice, as well as equivalency.”

“Liar!” he shouted, “Alchemists killed my family and then my brother! You’re the same, no matter what you say!” Suddenly I was aware that he was nearly right on top of me. I quickly blocked his sword with mine. “I’ll see to it that you burn in hell like you burned my family!” I quickly kicked him off of me and sent him flying a few feet.

“Look, I don’t know who killed your family,” I said, both softly and angrily, “but I’m the kinda alchemist that would help you find out. Now if you’d like my help-”

“I’d never accept help from scum like you!” Suddenly there was a bright flash. I was blinded for a second, and then felt something slam into my right arm. When I got my sight back, I lifted my right arm to see a large gash in my coat.

“Hey! That was my favorite coat!” I shouted. I quickly clapped my hands and turned my arm into a long blade. “You’re gonna pay for doing that.”

“I’ll show you who pays-”

“Do you ever shout anything else!” Suddenly we were both clashing blades, swinging at insane speeds and angles. I could barely keep up, but he was struggling too. Suddenly I noticed his blade was slightly week on the swing, and with one hard push, I knocked the blade from his hand and sent it flying through the air. “Ha, how’d you-” I suddenly noticed that he had flipped up, scaled the wall, and caught the sword in mid-air. “Damnit, forgot you were a ninja for a moment.”

“Die!” was all he shouted. I just lifted my left hand and snapped. An explosion engulfed the ninja, and he landed on the ground, part of his outfit burnt off. Before he could get up I had clapped my hands and trapped him in a cocoon made of earth, leaving only his head exposed. “Go on, finish me off! Finish killing off the Orosaka family!”

“I’m not that kind of alchemist,” I repeated, “I’m the kind that are meant to help people. “Alchemists be thou for the people.”, that’s what is said in another place, and that’s how I live my life.” His mask was still on, and I was curious to see how old he was. “Now let’s take that mask off of ya.”

“NOO!!!” Suddenly there was a crack in the earth and I brought my right arm up just in time to catch a hidden blade. In a split second, the battle was more heated then before. I had been kicked into the air, slammed back down, and pinned in a moment. “Now, feel my blade.”

“You first!” My keyblade appeared in my hand, and I used it as leverage to knock him off of me and pin him to the ground. “God damnit, stop this pointless fighting!”

“Never!” I heard him shout. The pitch of his voice was much higher, like that of a woman’s voice. But it couldn’t have been.”

“Hold on a second!?” I turned my arm back to normal before I tore off the mask. Sure enough, the ninja I was fighting was a young woman no older than myself. She was quite beautiful, with eyes that told of great pain and passion. “You’re a girl!?” I was instantly kicked off.

“It doesn’t change anything!” she shouted, “No matter what gender I am I’m still going to kill you!” She ran at me full force, holding nothing back. I blocked one of her strikes, but was caught off guard and took a chop to the chest. Before I could even get momentum backward, my legs were kicked out from under me, another foot coming down onto my chest and smashing me into the ground. I swept my right arm in front of my throat and blocked a kunai. I had to fight back now, otherwise my life could end.

I kicked my feet out. She was much faster though and leapt to a wall. I had anticipated that, and clapped my hands to the ground, The ground on the front of the building cracking and caving in, the whole building coming down. She leaped off the wall back at me, but I ducked under her strike and grabbed her shoulder, spinning and pitching her in the other direction. She flew quite a distance before tossing something out of her belt. It was a razor thing grapple hook. She managed to grapple onto a light post and came flying back at me with twice the force. I lifted my left leg to kick her, but she had done the same, our feet connecting and sending us both in the opposite direction.

“No more playing around,” she said, making some hand motions, “now, you will die!” Suddenly she split into five different ninjas, all of them looking identical. I could barely take on one of her, how could I take on several?

“This calls for a little keyblade magic.” I said, my Tessaiga keyblade appearing in my hand. I lifted the blade over my head and aimed at a group of ninjas, shouting “Wind Scar!” as I brought he blade down. As It connected with the ground, it sent out a shockwave. The Wind Scar went straight though the ninjas, all of them disappearing. I did that three more times, and all the ninjas were gone. “But, where’d the real one go?” I said to myself, scratching my head with my right hand. Suddenly the hair on the back of my neck stood up, and I quickly moved my right arm behind me to block the strike of a katana. I swung my blade as I turned and just missed her.

“Why won’t you just die already!” she shouted, sounding very frustrated.

“I have something to live for.” I said, “I committed a great sin, and I have to repent for it somehow.”

“That’s all you alchemists are: sins! You’re only out for power!”

“You’ve got that wrong! I’m one of the few who want to protect people!” It was at that point I heard the unmistakable sound of a transmutation. I smashed my hands together and then onto the ground, rising a wall of earth behind the ninja. There was a huge explosion that took the wall out and sent her flying, but she was still skillful and stuck the landing. We turned towards the smoke and saw a figure walking out of the fog.

“Hmph, seems I missed.” a man’s voice said. As the man stepped out of the darkness, he seemed to be middle-aged. He had black hair that was pulled back into a ponytail and had one long jagged scar that went up the side of his face. He wore a red shirt with a black overcoat. His gloves had the flame transmutation circle on it, although it was slightly modified.

“Who are you?” I asked sternly.

“Me? I’m what you might call a hunter.” he said, his high ego showing in his words, “Some people use guns to hunt animals, I use alchemy to hunt certain people.” I had begun to put the story together. “And the kind of people I hunt are-”

“Ninja?” I interrupted.

“That’s right? My what a bright young kid you are. Now if you could excuse me, I’m one transmutation away from finishing my hunt.” As he lifted his hand, I jumped in front of the ninja, briefly wiping my fingers across my DarkFire alchemy seal. As the flames were about to engulf us, the darkness formed a barrier from the flame. Before the smoke cleared, I turned to the girl and said “Quick, hide!” She vanished from my sight just in time.

“Huh, it seems she vaporized?” he said, sounding quite confused. I clapped my hands and turned my right arm into a blade. “You seem like quite the accomplished alchemist. How about we join forces and erase those scum from the planet?”

“Scum? You call ninjas scum? They’re as skilled as we are in hand to hand fighting as we are in alchemy, and yet you call them scum?”

“Ninjas think they’re so much better then us, but I’ve already killed fourteen of them! They’re not as strong as most say. That last one put up quite a fight. She’s killed three alchemists already. I thought you’d be the fourth, but you’re more powerful I guess.”

“You’d better shut your trap before I decide to kill you.” I said angrily. This guy called ninjas scum. He’s the real scum.

“Hmph, I’m not really an alchemist hunter, but I guess I have no choice.” He snapped his hand, sending an explosion at me. I wiped my fingers across the seal on my right hand, activating the fire part and absorbing the blast as it went off. I snapped my fingers and sent the same thing right back at him, but with more force. He hadn’t anticipated the attack, and I blew up the ground beneath him. As he landed back on the ground, it appeared his coat was fireproof, since it hadn’t been burned at all. “That’s it, no holding back!”

“I never was!” I saw him raising his hand, so I clapped my hands and slammed them into the ground, a huge wall of earth shielding me from the blast. I clapped my hands and threw them against the wall, turning the base into a weaker substance before smashing my right fist into it. The wall fell over and sent dirt flying through the air. As the smokescreen settled, I heard the sound of a transmutation. I threw my arms in front of me, ready to block a direct blow, when the building next to me erupted in flames. I saw two silhouettes through the smoke, and figured the ninja I was fighting had taken over my fight.

As I watched from a distance, there were flames flying through the air, chasing a small but quick moving black object. Her speed was incredible, dodging the blasts at the very last second. Suddenly, the flames appeared around her, engulfing her in the blast. The smile on the alchemist’s face was that of evil and accomplishment. That was wiped off his face quickly as the ninja burst from the flames with her sword drawn. The alchemist pulled a dagger from his pocket and blocked the blow, throwing more flames at her. He was a good alchemist, but narrow minded, since the blast was so close to him it sent him flying too.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw blue and red lights flashing. The police had arrived to break up the brawl, but with alchemists and a ninja duking it out, they were bound to shoot first and ask later. The alchemist whipped around and snapped his fingers, a transmutation going over to the squad car. In a split second the engine had erupted in a huge explosion, the cops turning around and running for their lives. Now I had to interfere again.

Before the alchemist could throw another flame, I had come up behind him and gotten him in a hold so he couldn’t move his arms. The ninja took this chance as an opening, causing me to block her blade with my right arm. This let the alchemist get free and elbow me in the chest before swinging at me with his dagger. I rolled out of the way and kicked it into the air. The ninja grabbed it and threw it towards the alchemist, causing me to snap my fingers and send the dagger flying with alchemy. She then went after me for helping him, and the alchemist too had aimed at me. Now it was time to disarm both of them.

I grabbed the ninja’s blade and kicked her high into the air. The flames of the alchemist’s transmutation roared right above my head. I ran up to him and swung the blade. The transmutation circle on the back of his glove was scratched off, rendering him powerless. I took the ninja’s blade and transmuted the blade into a round oval before casting it aside. Both of them were down to hand to hand combat now.

“Enough fighting already!” I shouted at both of them. I pointed at the ninja, “You haven’t killed anyone yet,” then pointed at the alchemist, “but you have. That means you will pay the equivalent and serve the rest of your life in jail.

“You’ll have to catch me first!” he shouted, starting to run away. I clapped my hands and placed them on the ground, the earth wrapping around his legs and holding him in place.

“Come on man, you knew I was an alchemist.” I said as he struggled to get out. “And you,” I said, turning back to the ninja, “you have to go now. I know for a fact that there are other ninja villages in Gaia, and I’m sure they’d accept you into their community after hearing your story.”

“Why are you helping me this much?” she asked, confused about my actions.

“Because I’m an alchemist that prefers to help humanity rather then try to overpower it.” I heard the sound of a police car coming towards us. “Quick, get outta here!”

“Thank you.” she said before leaping onto a building and running along it. I leaped the fence and took off down an alley. I saw her leaping over my head from roof to roof and laughed. She was pretty good for being young. I summoned my Fenrir as I took a left out of the alley. I turned to see the girl on the roof top. She waved goodbye to me, and after I did the same, she took off, the ninja that tried to kill me and had become my friend. As my bike came around the corner, I leaped onto it and took off for home.

As I parked my bike in the garage and went inside, I plopped down on the couch. The news reported catching an alchemist that had used stolen gloves to cause chaos to towns of ninjas, ruthlessly killing hundreds of them without remorse. He was going to jail for live of coarse, but I still thought he should get worse. All those lives in exchange for his? Alchemy was all about equivalence, but this was the exact opposite. He should suffer for the rest of his life for all the suffering he’s caused. Every reaction should have an equal reaction. This was not equal.

I walked over towards the counter and began to mend my coat through stitching and alchemy. That ninja was pretty cute, but I still had someone in my heart that I loved. Still though, some of her moves were just unreal. Ninjas were pretty good competition for alchemists. Perhaps if I met her again, I could ask her to teach me some ninjitsu. Then again, I’d have to find her first. But that shouldn’t be too hard, you just have to look up their na-…

“Oh crap!” I shouted to myself, “I forgot to get her name!”
