Chapter Six
Sprite on a Plane
Alex and Sarah sat swinging their feet in the air plane seats, this time Sarah got the window. They were off to Morocco. “How much longer do you think our drinks will be?” Sarah asked watching a passing bird, “I don’t know but this is getting ridiculous. I’ll be back I’m gonna see what’s up.” Alex replied getting out of her seat and walking down the isle, after a moment she saw the drink cart and hastened into a jog, suddenly…WHAM! The bathroom door hit her smack in the forehead. “Are you ok!!??” A tall man in a uniform asked helping her up, “Whoa! Uh yeah I think so. I’m Alex, nice to…run into you.” Alex said laughing a bit at her own joke, “I’m Orion, Orion Johnson. And I’m the co-pilot of this plane.” Orion had semi long black hair and grey- brown eyes; he was a bit on the pale side and was tall and skinny, he looked in about his late twenties. “Hi Orion. Say I did some flying last summer, of course this thing is probably more advanced then a Cessna 150.” Alex added and leaned agents the wall, “Well would you like to come up to the c**k pit and see for yourself?” Orion said with a smile, “Really!!??” Alex exclaimed, “Sure, just give me a minute or two to make sure my co-pilot isn’t having a junk food party, then just knock on the door.” Orion responded flattening out his uniform. “Ok! See you in a minute!” Alex said watching Orion go back to the c**k pit.
She quickly grabbed two sodas from the cart and ran to where Sarah was. Alex threw Sarah her soda, “C’mon we’ve been invited to tour the c**k pit!” Alex said opening her soda, “Awesome, lets go!” Sarah said getting up started walking towards the c**k pit with Alex. “Orion, it’s Alex, I brought my friend Sarah I hope you don’t mind.” Alex said knocking on the c**k pit door, “Yeah, c’mon in.” Orion said and opened the door. The two girls walked in and looked in awe at the many switches and buttons, “Awesome.” Alex and Sarah said simultaneously. Orion smiled and looked to a man behind the wheel of the plane, “Oh, this is my cousin, Jayson Starr.” Jayson had hair a couple inches shorter then Orion’s, and in brown, his eyes were also brown and he was a bit more tanned then Orion, but just as thin. “Hey, so Orion tells me one of you flies.” Alex stepped forward, “Yeah that’d be me,” she began, “It hurts my arms a bit, but it gets me where I need to go.” They all laughed. For several moments Jayson and Orion explained how the controls work, “Well I have to go let out some red bull I just had, so Orion, why don’t you take over.” Jayson said getting up and walking out of the small c**k pit.
Orion switched seats and grabbed hold of the wheel. Just then the c**k pit door opened and a tall blonde haired flight attendant came inside, accidently knocking into Sarah in the process which made Sarah drop her unopened Sprite, “Oh sorry, honey. Orion do you need anything?” she asked, “No I’m alright, Marie” Orion replied and the woman walked out, Alex picked up the Sprite and tossed it back to Sarah, “I wouldn’t open that for a bit.” Alex said and laughed a bit. “Alex, why don’t you check the altitude radar for me, I can’t see it from over here.” Orion said with a smile, he of course could see every button leaver and switch from where he sat, but Orion thought it would be nice for Alex to ‘help’ him fly the plane. “Okay!” Alex said getting into the seat Orion was previously, “Umm lets see,” she said bending over the dash bored and looking a number count “Ah ha! 30,000 feet.” Sarah’s eyes went wide, “Uh, wow.” “What, you’re not afraid of heights, you never have been.” Alex said leaning back in the co-pilots seat, “Yeah, that was before I knew how high we were traveling now!” Sarah exclaimed looking out the windshield “’Fraidy cat! ‘Fraidy cat!” Alex chanted teasingly. “I am not!!” Sarah yelled, not paying attention to anything else she opened her soda and a spout of Sprite came soaring out of the can getting everything wet, including the dash bored.
All of a sudden there was an electrical spark, and before they knew it, a small fire erupted and they all screamed, “Get the fire extinguisher!” Orion yelled and Sarah pulled it from behind her which made other things topple onto the floor and a life raft that was among the jumble shot open. Sarah swung the extinguisher around facing the fire, but she swung it around so hard that it hit Orion in the head, knocking him out. Sarah got the fire out, but then they realized that the pilot of a passenger plane with over 300 passengers on it was unconscious, and the door was blocked by a heavy yellow raft….
