Samantha starts to laugh, "You're just like your father. Your plan to major in criminal justice as a
career is one you'll definitely excel in." Suddenly getting serious "you're right in your analysis
but this time according to my records two of the dogs taken this time were not pure breeds, I'm
not sure if that was intended or not. However, if your theory is right and some one in our clinic is
steeling these dogs then we have a problem."
A police officer enters the room, its Dana, Kat's mother. Samantha hints for Kat to leave the
office. The office door is shut. Kat decides to listen in on the discussion by placing her ear to the
door.
"Well officer what's the news?"
"It appears that the door was pried open, a sign of forced entry. Either a crow bar or something
similar in strength could have been used. Also, one of the kennels that held the dogs was taken.
Other than that we can find much."
"Why would they need one of our kennels?"
"I'm not sure, but these thieves are thorough. They left no fingerprints on anything we dusted."
"I know all well groomed dogs are in high demand because of the animal shows, but if these
thefts keep up I might not have enough money to keep up with bills. We may end up shutting
down the shelter half of this building."
"Well I'll be on my way." Dana gets up and heads for the door.
Kat quickly walkes away from the door snd heads back to the main lobby.
"You know Kat, you're to nosy for your own good." Kenta suddenly appears from behind thefront desk. "I know you love the dog, that's why I wanted you to get this job but I don't want you
getting yourself involved with this kidnapping spree."
"Why would you think I'd get involved?"
"Because I've known you since grade school. You're the type who can't resist a challenge like
this."
Kat smiles, "I don't know what you mean" She takes a broom and goes off to sweep the hallways to prepare for opining. Haku fallows.
Kenta yells down the hall "Kat!!" when there is no reply, "damn that girl, she'll be the death of me."
