CHAPTER 1: new girl

"Aurora* have you seen the new girl," my friend Lizzie chirped.

I turned away from the small mirror in my locker. Immediately I was appalled, I always knew what was going on at Frankfort High.

"No I haven't, what's she like," I asked my curiousness always got the better of me.

"Well she kinda looks like you, Oh who am I kidding she could be your twin!" she squealed. I laughed at this comment.

"Please the world can not take another Aurora Byers," I said vainly. Lizzie giggled.

"Come on it's time for lunch and wink-wink* will be there," Lizzie pressed. Sometimes I wondered if Lizzie liked Conner more then I did.

"Alright time for me to put my flirty face on,' I said while applying more make-up to my face. After ten minutes of doing this Lizzie and I practically waltzed towards the cafeteria.

Yes my name is Aurora Byers. I'm sixteen years old. I have snow white short pixie cut hair and milk colored eyes. I'm tall,lean,and slender. I'll be honest I can be selfish and arrogant at times, but sometimes I can be caring, and selfless. Everything was pretty normal before I met Nyx*, my twin sister. Now everything is confusing and complicated. But I'm less shallow and I'm starting to understand the world Nyx* was thrust into. This is our story and I'll start from the day I met Nyx*.

Lizzie and I had finally made it to the cafeteria and immediately were flocked by all our friends.

I was zoning out while Lizzie and my other friend Emily were talking about these new pair of jeans that they had to have.

"Ohmygod there she is that's your twin Aurora hurry up and look before she walks into the crowd," Lizzie practically yelled for the whole lunch room to hear.

They were right it was uncanny at how much we resembled each other.

Our only differences were her skin was paler, her eyes were lighter, she was shorter and her hair was way longer. It was still uncanny though.

"More like a gothic version of Aurora*," Emily snorted.

"I dare you to go sit by the freak," Lizzie joked.

"Okay I'll go eat lunch with her," I said smoothly before picking up my tray and walking towards the table she was sitting at.

"Wait no not literally come back," Lizzie and Emily called.

"A dare's a dare," I thought smugly to myself.

As I came closer to where she was sitting I noticed that she was very stylish for a goth.

Her hair was put up into a ponytail that was held up by a skull hair pin, she had side bangs that covered one of her light milk colored eyes.

She wore a black tank top, with a silver one underneath. A black jean skirt with ripped gray stockings. She wore a spiked dog collar around her neck and a spiked bracelet on her wrist. She had on a leather jacket and leather lace-up boots.

Whoever said goths only wore t-shirts, baggy pants, and dyed their hair neon colors were painfully wrong.

I sat down at the table she was sitting at.

"Hi I'm Aurora* Byers," I smiled sweetly and held out my hand.

At first she looked at my hand, as if she never was introduced to a person.

"Nyx*," she replied. Her voice duvious and eerie. She reluctantly shook my hand.

"Nyx* like lynx without the L," I asked, puzzled by her answer I knew of no one with the name Nyx*.

"No Nyx* like Nics," she answered calmly more amused then annoyed. .

"Oh um... how old are you,"I asked.

"The same age as you Aurora* Byers," she seemed wiser and older then she looked. It scared me in a way, it was like she would use her knowledge to destroy you.

"Uh really... people say we could be twins so when were you born," my curiousness once again got the better of me.

"Really I find that very amusing, I was born on October 31st 1993," she answered looking completely serene and unphased.

"Seriously that's my birthday," I said in complete awe. Nyx smiled her smile was perilous but beautiful.

She arose from her seat.

"Where are you going," I asked.

"To class lunch is almost over," she smiled again and waved before leaving me.

Sure enough as soon as Nyx left the bell rang.
