Act two: Your last words
Not knowing what to do, Minaori stared at the cold bodies in front of her. Her eyes blurred by tears she couldn’t help but shed. Everything seems to be quiet, not a single sound she could hear, neither from around her nor from her. She could see her brother gasping for air as he stares at the ceiling. Minaori wanted to help him, she wanted to pull the sword out but she’s too terrified to move. She couldn’t let out a shriek, yell, scream, or even a whisper. Everything seems to stop even her heartbeat. The sunny weather both of them enjoy a while ago is now covered by clouds, dark and heavy. “Mi... Minaori...” a voice echoed into her ears. Her mind was blank, and then she heard his voice say her name even though he’s dying in pain. Minaori tilted her head upwards to see her brother then she hurried and wipe off her tears. She tried but the tears just kept on flowing out. She tried to stand but she couldn’t, it’s hard to believe that just a moment ago she’s standing tall wearing her cold bloody eyes but now she couldn’t even raise a finger... She hurried and pulled herself towards her brother and wrap her arms around him. Her mind is bothered, she couldn’t think straight, all that is in her mind right now is her wanting to apologize and her blaming herself.
Soujin gasp for air, he couldn’t feel the pain, he’s numb but his body is slowly dying. His eyes won’t give any sign of tears but he can’t hide the fact that he’s helpless and suffering. He wanted to wrap his arms around her for the last time but his body won’t move anymore. He held no grudge towards her, instead he felt sorry that he need to leave before her, he wanted to stay beside her and keep her warm trough the rain that he know is about to come. “Mi... naori...” he repeated as he watches his sister move towards him. She breaks her hold and fall right beside him still crying because of what she have done, wrapping her arms around Soujin with her eyes covered with tears. “B...brother... I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to... I don’t want you to leave... ” She kept on starting statements she couldn’t finish. The pain she feels in her heart is like trying to kill her slowly. “Naori... Stay safe...” this is Soujin’s last words, but he didn’t die crying, instead she could see the smile in his face breaking through the tears covering her eyes. Till his last breath he was thinking about her, even though she caused his death. Her grip to his shirt tightened as she tries to remember his smile just a few hours ago then she thought of how pitiful she is, how poor and how monstrous. She doesn’t deserve to hear his last words, she doesn’t deserve to be safe...
