Taran: The Ship Tour

Taran let DOS show him around the large craft. If not for the readily available lifts located short distances from each other, Taran might have felt overwhelmed. But the fact that he could traverse the entire ship within minutes pleased him. Lofwyr might be a pain, but he had sense. This ship would be of great value to him.

"Sir?" DOS said, "We are being hailed."

It took only a second to realize what exactly that meant. "Right." he said, and proceeded back to the lift.

"Bridge." he told the lift, and he and DOS sped off to the location.

Stepping out of the lift, entering the Bridge from the back and slightly left hand side of it, Taran walked uneasily to the Captain's chair. DOS took a position at one of the control panels much closer to the screen.

"Go ahead, put them through." Taran said to DOS.

Complying immediately, DOS opened the line, and prepared to evaluate their position.

Rose: Getting Down to Business

"So." Rose stated, and Kyrre just nodded. Sahm was frowning at the ground.

Kyrre and Sahm had just explained a little bit more about the many difficulties that faced them in this endeavor. There was the matter of her heritage. She knew that already. Then there was the matter of her knowing enough kitsune history. She knew none, and hadn't known she'd need to. She also had to have her powers tested, which she couldn't even access yet. There were a few other things, like lineage testing and protocol, as well as what would be expected of her once (they didn't say "if", they kept saying "once", like this would be easy, or a sure thing, which they did not seem certain of) once she was verified as royalty and the heir to the throne.

She didn't like it. They'd been over most of this before, and with more enthusiasm. And the new things were... kind of to be expected. They were studiously not mentioning the whole reason for the rushed journey.

"So?" Rose repeated, and this time, Sahm looked up at her, too. "Why are we waiting. Not that I don't need rest, but... I thought we were in a hurry? To stop the coronation of a tyrant?" Rose asked.

"Well, yes." Sahm stated. He always did the talking when he could. Or, when he didn't think Kyrre had more to say on the subject. "We are actually waiting, now. For my cousin, Trella. She's... well, she's our pack's Shaman. She will be bringing the potion.

Oh. Rose thought. That's right. The I-can't-be-anything-but-kitsune-for-two-weeks potion. They want me to take it now, before too many people see me.

"Ok. But, I do have a question about all that. If you don't really think that they will accept me as kitsune without the potion, what's saying that once I'm crowned Queen or whatever and the potion wears off... that they won't accept me because of my other heritages?"

Rose's question was valid, and hit a chord.

Kyrre looked into her eyes then, and held her gaze.

Sahm said something... something about the validity of the heritage, and some kind of viceroy appointment, along with some other entitlements.

Rose didn't move. Kyrre's gaze held her there. She felt a little confused, and intruiged. Part of her- the part of her mind not entranced- wondered if this was some kind of kitsune power.

"Blueaecids Rose." Kyrre stated. "You shall rule, as is your right. Undeniably, and unequivocably. You will have the loyalty of our people. Only worry about doing what is right by them."

"Oh. Sure." Rose said, almost intimidated. He sounded so sure, and so passionate about his people. It was... heartwarming. Rose smiled.

They waited for Trella, talking more easily now, and openly, about the problems facing them in the weeks to come.
