"Come on Kayla! Hurry up! I can't wait all day!" Becca pleaded impatiently. I got up from tying my shoe. "Okay Okay! I'm comming! You live." I rushed to catch up with her.
It was the third week of school. Becca and I were on our way to lunch. My name is Kayla Tang. The town I live in is peaceful. There aren't any fights or robberies I've heard of and the people are usually nice. The school I got to doesn't have very many people. Only around six or seven hundred and that's not a very big number for a high school. I knew most of the people in the school but I never actually talked to them. The only person who I was most personal with was Becca. Her full name was Rebecca Teal. She's been my best friend for as long as I remember. She lives right next door to me and I get to see her everyday. I've always called her Becca because I'm too lazy to say the Re.
Becca and I walked to the lunch line. "So what do you think?" she asked "Is tenth grade better then ninth grade?' This year we were tenth graders. I told Becca the truth. "I'd say so, but hey, it seems like every grade is better." I said joyfully. "I agree." Becca grinned.
We chatted along while standing in line. After getting our food and walking to our table Becca said "You know Kayla, I think you should talk to more people then me." "But I'm fine just talking to you." "Well you should talk to other people as well." "I guess your right." I finally agreed. I looked around. I didn't see much people I had any interest in, but then something caught my eye. I saw two girls that I never seen before. They were both talking alone at a table. They looked like ordinary girls but something about them struck me as strange. "Hm. What about them?" I pointed. Becca turned around. "Those girls? Sure, they seem okay. Lets go!" Becca got up. We through our food away and walked over there. We sat down. The girls looked at us. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Becca and that's Kayla." I waved shyly. "Well, I'm done here. Your on your own girl." Becca walked off. "Wait don't-" I couldn't stop her. I slowly turned around to face the girls. Okay Kayla.. We can do this.. I thought. I cleared my throat a little. "Um. Hi. My names Kayla." I made a tight smile and waited for a reply. "Yes?" one asked expressionless. "M...My full name is Kayla Tang." "Hello Kayla Tang." The other responded blankly. It was like I was being mocked. I was so embarest. "So umm..." I continued. "What are your names?" "My name is May Wolf." Said one. May Wolf looked very pretty. She had shiny brown hair and beautiful blue eyes. "My name is April Wolf." The other said. April wolf was pretty too. She had silky blond hair and very greenish eyes. "April Wolf and May Wolf? So you must be sisters." "That is correct." April said. I giggled "Heh. So if your April and she's May, do you guys have a third sister named June?" "Actually no," May replied "but we do have a brother. His name is Nathan." "Unfortunately we are going through a period of time in which we can not see him." It was so weird how they spoke, but I didn't want to say anything about it because I thought it would be rude. Something was so fishy about them. They acted so polite and blank. I looked down at their trays. They both were full of untouched food. I looked back up at them. "Sorry to hear about Nathan." I said. For a moment they looked depressed and worried but seemed to get over it quickly. "So.. this 'Nathan' guy.. What was he like?" April was about to speak but the bell rang and cut her off. "It's time to leave." she said. "Wait! Uh, maybe I can speak to you again some time?" I was so onto them! I couldn't just let them go. "That would be fine. Don't we have gym with you?" "I sure hope so." I said. "See you guys later." I walked off to my next class. Later that day I was on the bus with Becca. "So how'd it go at the lunch table?" She grinned. "The girls were actually very nice, kind of strange though. I'm talking to them tomorrow also." "Good to know." She said happily, but I didn't listen. My ears were captured right then by a song on the bus's radio. It was a song that seemed so farmilliar yet couldn't remember were from. All I knew is it caught my attention.
"Look at the stars look how they shine for you 'and all the things you do and it was all yellow
I came along I wrote a song for you and all the things you do and it was all yellow
So then I took my time oh what a thing to've done And it was all yellow
Your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones turn into something beautiful D'you know? You know I love you so You know I love you so..."
"You know I love you so" that last bit of lyrics completely brang me to a new world. A world I wanted to stay in forever. I could hear nothing else at that moment. I felt a strange yet deep emotion of warmth and sorrow. I heard my friends voice. "Kayla? Hello? You alive?" Becca snapped her fingers in my face. I woke up into reality. "What was that all about?" Becca asked. "Oh... I don't know..It was something about that song Becca. It really caught my ears. It was like some one was speaking to me." Becca looked at me weird. "Ookay...... over active imagination." she commented. I flushed. "Yeah." I pretended to agree but I knew something was weird. The bus pulled over to my house. The door opened. Becca and I made our way out. We stepped onto the sidewalk. and the bus drove away. "Your Imagining things, Kayla. The song you heard was just a good song." Becca explained. "I know." I said trying to hide my shame. "What was it called?" "I'm not sure." Becca answered. "I don't listen to much music." she began towards her house. "See you later Kayla!" She waved. I waved back silently. I was dying to know what that song was but I had no clue as to what it was called. There was no use in just standing there thinking about it so I started walking down my driveway. My house was right next to hers and my house looked beautiful. It was a two story made out of wood. It had a back porch and a rock driveway. The front lawn looked great. The grass was green and there was an oak tree with a swing on it. I walked through the front door. My older brother Jake greeted me. "Hey Kayla, home from school?" Jake was my leagle guardian. He was twenty years old. My siblings and I were orphaned two years ago. "Yeah, I got homework." "Okay well go get it done." I grinned and walked past him. I walked upstairs into my room. I have a nice room. It was always filled with lots of light coming in from the window. A desk sat by the window where I was going to finish my homework. Before I got started I took a moment to glance out my window. Past the fence of my back yard there was a forest. I've never gone very far into it. As a child I would imagine being stared at by a monster or an evil thing from there. It was a deep thick forest that I never even dared to explore. My brother always told me "Kayla, it's just a spooky forest get over it." and I believed him, but something still gave me chills. Even now as a teen, I still shudder at the thought of somebody staring. I began on my homework. It was an easy assignment. I got done with it within minutes. I put it away. I took another look out my window. I began to wish my imagination would leave me alone. First a weird feeling about two ordinary girls, then a weird feeling about some regular song, and now some spook is out to get me. I began to feel a little irritated with myself. Was I just crazy or very paranoid? I stepped away from the window and made a deal with myself. "No more weirdness for the rest of the day. Everything is fine. Just get over it." I finally promised that to myself. That night I was staring up at the ceiling. That song still stuck in my head. I closed my eyes. I began to fall asleep. The lyrics still rattled in my mind. I loved this song. It was smooth and calming. Then something strange happened that night. It wasn't scary, but nice. I was too tired to react to it but my mind was sure it happened. I listened deeply to that song in my head, when suddenly a soft hand grabbed mine. And I smiled.
"You know I love you so..."
