Excerpt from my story in the works:
Traveling to the West and Back
... Seeing my utter disbelief, the man smiled and his clothing began to shimmer. In their place was now a strapped leather breastplate with a copper ankh on its front along with a knee length sarong colored with oranges, reds, and dark plum all separated by angled black stitching. Long leather straps with copper studs hung from the breastplate to drape over the sarong, giving him a very ancient warrior-like look. His feet now bore leather sandals that wrapped all the way up his calves. Gold bangles began to adorn his wrists and more garnet laden hoop earrings began to appear in both of his ears. Noticing that my attention was fully on him, he smiled even bigger and his teeth seemed to lengthen and sharpen. Alarmed, I scooted away from him, my back firmly pressed against the grass. His skin then began to ripple as I watched with growing alarm. Where dark brown skin had just been, short black fur seemed to materialize, covering his entire body. Shivering with fear as well as awe, I watched intently as a long black tail began to form from behind him. Unable to restrain myself, I let my eyes shoot back up to his face only to see his nose and mouth lengthen into a muzzle as his ears grew pointed and long. His eyes remained the same golden copper, but his tattoo seemed to disappear as the fur spread. His muscles seemed to pop and ripple, growing more toned on his lithe, yet sturdy body. Shaking his head with a doglike ferocity, his appearance stopped swirling to solidify in this new form. Reaching out a lengthened hand sporting almost cat-like nails, the half man, half jackal asked with a coy grin, “Do you fear me, child?” ...
