Name: Sati (ancient being…she had no last name, but later adopted the last name) Nile
Gender: Female/Heterosexual
Date of birth: 1400 BC—Spring—She says it was around April, but the calendar system was much different then than now. She is not sure.
Place of Birth: Egypt
“Home”: Theodosia
Citizenship/Nationality: Citizen of Canada.
Race/Ethnicity: Vampire/Egyptian
Height/Weight: 6’/140
Eye color: Blue
Hair color/Quantity: White/to waist in layers
Skin: Tanned
Marital Status: Single
Pets: A hawk bird named Rae
Occupation: Communications Professor at Theodosia. She has been there the longest of them all—since it’s creation. No one really knows why she hasn’t left yet though.
Hygiene Habits: Clean to the extreme. Her desk is always tidy, and she has a bit of an OCD about keeping dust out of her keyboard and cell phone. Her showers aren’t long, but they’re thorough, and she never takes baths. Her hair is always neatly combed, and her teeth brushed. She washes her face every night and clips her fingernails regularly.
Sleep Patterns: Sati is a vampire, and thus sleeps during the day. She holds her classes at night.
Dream/Nightmare: Her dreams include walking by the Nile, and fishing in the dangerous waters as a young girl. She has only two nightmare, a replay of waking up in the temple and killing the innocent priests and priestesses out of ravenous hunger. The second nightmare is a reply of Adan being stabbed and falling to his death into the sea.
Favourites: Her hawk Rae, hunting and archery, sailing, computers and history. She hunts with her hawk, which has been trained to respond to her whistles. She kept a similar bird with her during her days of piracy, which many say the image of the parrot on a pirates shoulder comes from. She loves sailing with the wind in her hair and has her own boat which she keeps at the docks not far from Theodosia. Sati became obsessed with the release of computers, and found the glowing screens enchanting and magical. Since then, she has dedicated numerous hours to computers, and loves working in her lab in the dark with only the light of her computer screen to guide her. She also has a large amount of old scrolls and books saved from her time in Egypt and China. The documents she kept safe for so many years, are now found in the communal teachers library/study, under heavy glass and special lighting, so as not to deteriorate them. Frustrations: Goody-two-shoes type of people, hot and dry weather, messiness
Secrets: Sati leaves the school grounds once a week and sails down the coast to visit the descendants of her long past friend, Theodosia. The family she holds so dear there, also kindly provides her with the blood she needs to survive. The family consists of Mary Fidelia(married into the family)(mother)(50), James Fidelia(direct descendant)(father)(54), and Trent Fidelia(son)(22). The family owns a small organic vegetable farm that does rather well for itself.
Handicaps: Sati has the usual vampiric aversion to garlic, crosses and the sun.
Other: Sati was born in Egypt in the 18th dynasty, year 1400 BC. She was made to be a vampire in 1375 BC. She was out in the market buying bread for her family when she was captured and taken into a dark alley. She cannot remember any more, besides the feeling of a sharp pain in her neck and arms constraining her from behind that were cold as ice. She awoke days later in a temple dedicated to Rae, being tended to by priests. Unfortunately, being a newborn vampire, she attacked her saviours and left the temple in a bloody mess of bodies. She fled the temple under the cover of night and made her way to the docks and killed a man and took his small ship. She sailed on the Mediterranean sea, along the coast so she could sail by herself, and found the Hittite empire. She resided there for the next century.
She spent the next century alone, trying to make sense of what had happened to herself, and attempting to control her needs. She returns to Egypt in 1275 with the war between the Hittites and Egyptians waging. She finds no one she knows alive, and instead returns to the temple where she first killed and dedicated herself as a priestess to Rae. She hid her immortality from her fellow priests and priestesses by claiming it was a gift from Rae. Not knowing herself what she was, and no one to explain it to her, she believed it to be true. She never revealed the curse, however, of having to take blood to survive and quench her thirst. Sati stayed in Egypt even after its fall to the Romans. She left Egypt under the religious pressure, however, and fled to the East. She found welcome arms in Chinese Taoist monks, who accepted her despite her ‘odd condition’, as they called it. She shared her knowledge with them, and they with her. Sati remained in China and became a teacher, instructing them in ancient religions and politics. She only left China when the allure of more new worlds opened up to her.
During the 1300’s, she relocated to Spain and gained herself a crew and with the money she had saved from teaching. She participated in piracy and amassed a fortune over a few years, plundering at night rather than day. Her ship was made of dark wood, and she sailed with black sails. Her crew was required to wear uniforms mostly consisting of black. The combination made them a deadly force at night on the sea, her ship fast and hew crew strong. It was during this time that she fell in love with her Quarter Master, Adan. Being a mortal man, however, Adan fell during battle. At the same battle, Sati ordered her crew below, and preceded to kill the entire opposing ship’s crew. All her crew saw was the blood coming through the cracks of the wood above them, hearing only the sound of a woman scorned.
During a particularly bad storm at the end of the golden age of piracy, her ship went under, taking most of her crew with it one night. Sati headed for the closest shore she could find with her row boat filled of treasure, and found the coast of America. She spent the day there, hiding in the basement of a church in New Orleans, and then spent the evening burying her treasure in the swamps of New Orleans. She then made her way north to the much more peaceful Canada, and returned to America for her treasure a year later. Upon confederation, she found herself with a Canadian citizenship.
Sati, hiding her past because of superstition, never knew what she had become until she met a much younger French vampire in New France named Dimitri. He was the first of her kind she had met, and he invited her to meet with more of his kind. Upon meeting them, however, Sati was horrified. They thought themselves to be better than humans, and killed for fun rather than leaving victims alive and dazed, as she did. They were an entirely different species, Sati was convinced, and she quickly distanced herself from them. She still meets with Dimitri on occasion, but never enjoys it.
Sati helped in the creation of Theodosia, using some of her own funds to build it. Her fellow founders, including Theodosia Fidelia, one of Sati’s closest human friends, all sunk time and money into the university. It began first as a small, two room school for native children. Upon Theodosia’s passing, the school, previously named First School For Native Children was renamed to Theodosia Academy, and has since kept the name. Sati stepped up as headmaster and helped to expand it, teaching classes to adults at night while her colleagues taught during the day. Sati was forced to flee the grounds, however, during the 1800’s due to paranoia over her vampirism, locals claiming her to be the source of a series of deaths, although it was merely a fever passing through the village. Sati fled to Alaska, where she remained for a century, until she returned to Theodosia. To her delight, population had increased in the area, and more students than ever were attending the university. The world was becoming more accepting of her race, and finally in 2019, all races were given the same rights and freedoms in Canada. Sati has taught at Theodosia ever since, but has always passed up the position of headmaster.
Because of her old age and experience, Sati finds it hard to relate to people anymore and often has a difficult time meeting people or making friends. She is a quiet being, and chooses rather to keep her thoughts to herself, a trait she picked up from the monks in China. As a pirate, however, she was forced to be more outspoken and direct with her commands, and as such, is not afraid to snap at a person if she believes them to be in the wrong, or at a student who is taking during her class. Sati holds a deep respect for humans and other beings, and is often conflicted by her own existence, and the existence of her kind.
