Cedric was charismatic even before he started using spells to enhance it. He was a leader; when the rest of us were wondering where to go next, he would decide, and lead us towards it. So it isn't surprising that when he decided to summon an other worldly entity, we agreed.

Even against our better judgement.

Summoning a demon is not nearly so hard as it might be, once you know what you are doing. The preparation is the difficult thing, such as the finding of six black candles that are four inches thick and a foot and a half high, and the drawing of the circle. The drawing of the circle, quite frankly took three days.

Though I did a majority of the drawing, I barely made it to the actual summoning because of a performance- of a play based on Faust, of all things.

In a fit of irony, that no one realized, I played the devil.

But I arrived just as they were about to seal the room for the ritual, and barely had time to order myself before it got underway. While the power gathered, I noticed that some small changes had been made to the circle since I had seen it last, but dismissed it; as it had been late the night before then, and I was not the only one who had researched the circle- someone might have discovered something I did not, and it could be important.

The summoning finished we all waited, breaths stilled. A draft from nowhere swept around the room, extinguishing all candles except for the ones in the circle, which did not even gutter. The chalk glowed as if the gram had been drawn in foxfire, and then....

it appeared.
