Taran was distraught. Here this poor magical mystical girl was, lying unconscious, for no apparent reason. He checked all her vital signs, and the Gwees searched for the other consciousness in her, but got no response.
Running a hand through his hair, the young mage sat next to the still girl, and thought for a while. Nothing made sense, and this didn't seem right. The gwees seemed to agree with him.
Thankfully, they also seemed to have one helpful tip. They knew roughly where she was heading. Maybe they could get her to her home.
Taran gently picked up the girl, and carried her carefully in his arms. She looked so peaceful like that. He grew aggravated with himself. There she was, possibly hurt, and all he could think of was how lovely she looked. He wondered if that ever-present scowl she wore would go away once she was... healed. It hadn't been there when she had used her healing powers to save his life. He thought the scowl was part of her demon side more than the rest of her. The gwees had told him only a little of what she was. That she was 1/4 demon and 1/4 fairy. And 1/4 red-fox neko, which they seemed interested in very much. But they said the last they would not tell, as it was not their secret to keep. He wondered very much what that had meant.
But he walked on, for a few more hours, following the gwees, his thoughts hopelessly out of logical order in so many things that he had to divert his attention to the route on which he must send Rose to get healed. He placed the map firmly in his head, and the route, and supplies needed and other odd and end things. But he kept coming back to it. He would do almost anything to study the girl more. She was a very interesting creature indeed.
His reminiscing came to a sudden halt, though, when the gwees told him that they believed her house was somewhere up ahead. He felt an odd fear come over himself, and he couldn't place it.
It came into view only a few minutes later. A large two-story house, with a beautiful rose garden in the front off to the side, and a lovely stone-paved walk. It was serene and quiet. Maybe too quiet? There were no birds singing, and no squirrels chattering. Listening harder, he could hear the very very faint buzz of a power generator.
Puzzled, he walked up to the front door.
