DarkFire Alchemist's log book.
This is the documents of my life. This is how I live, what I learn...and what I'll do to protect the ones I care for.
...log entry date: 11:27:06
Location: Mike's house
Time: 10:00 p.m.

I’m back at home, kicking back and waiting for my wife Megan to return home. She said she just went out to see her brother, but that shouldn’t take this long. I sat up and looked at the clock. It’s four already, almost three hours have passed since she left. I stood up and grabbed my cape and boots. I finished putting them on when my cell phone rang. I answered it.

“Hello?”
“Mike!? Oh thank god…you have to…you have to help me!”
“Whoa, are you ok!?”
“No, this guy is chasing me. I’m in the woods, hurry before-AAHH-”
“MEGAN!!!”

I threw my cell phone in my pocket and took off towards the woods. I was there in a flash, and began searching for her. My keen sense of hearing picked up her screams, and I charged in that direction. I had gained huge ground in a short distance of time. I reached a heart stopping scene. She was pinned against a tree, sweating and shivering in fear, as a large man with a strange sword stood in front of her. I could tell from the reflection in Megan’s eyes that he was grinning wildly. He wore a long black coat, dark brown pants, and hard leather boots. He turned around and greeted me, red eyed, “Hello Mike.”

“Who are you and why are you chasing her.” I said clenching my fist.
“Can’t you tell, I’m saving her.” he said smiling.
I was shocked my his answer, replying “What the Hell do you mean by that!?”
His blade quivered, “I know what you are, and I’m saving this young lass from becoming one as well.”
I almost killed him right there. “I’m not a full vampire, and I’d never dream of turning her.”
He began to laugh. “That’s not what I’m talking about. I know what you are: you’re a DarkFire alchemist, few of their kind. You have the ability in you to gain so much power no one can kill you. And sure, you’re a half vampire and all, but that just allows me to kill you more easily!” He dashed at me.

I immediately transmuted my right arm into a spike and began to defend myself. His attacks were so fast it was scary. I began to go offensive but he soon cut that dream short as he kneed my chest and sent me into a tree. I luckily regain my self-awareness and dodged his blade coming to my head. It went straight through the tree. I was amazed at how strong he was. He lunged at me and pulled two thing blades out of his coat. I barely dodged them, but he barely sliced my arm with one. A huge amount of pain shot through me as I clutched my arm. “Ah, blessed steel, any type of vampire’s worst enemy.” He said grinning. While he was talking I had healed my arm and charged at him yelling “I’ll make you eat those words!” I became and aerialist, jumping above him and slashing and blocking while he did the same with his blades below. It went on for a few moments, a juggling act until I jumped off the blades, off a tree, and impaled him with my spike right through his heart. I stood there for a moment, panting, then pulled the blade right out of him, leaving a gaping hole. He fell to the ground, dead. I walked over to Megan.

“Are you alright?” I asked, kneeling down to her. She nodded yes. “Come on, lets go-”

I was interrupted by the sound of a swinging blade. I turned just in time to block it with my right arm.
“How are you still alive!?” I shouted at him. I then noticed the hole in him closing up. “Regenerative powers…but that means you’re a Bio-Tech freak!?” I pushed his collar down and saw VS-1127. I ran through the symbols in my mind, and realized what he was, “You’re a vampire slayer series!?”

“Ay, the best of my kind,” he said putting more strength on my arm, “and I’m e’re to save the lass.”
“Why, Bio-Tech usually isn’t interested in preserving the future of someone.” I said giving more in my push.
“Oh, they will help people if I bring her back with out being bitten,” he said equaling our pressure, “I just wouldn’t bet she’d live a…painless life.” That’s when I snapped.

“YOU MONSTER!” I shoved him off of me as my arm went back to normal. I grabbed his collar and backhanded his face. He kicked my feet out from under me. I landed on my back and saw him draw two more blades. He stabbed me rapidly, up and down my chest, making me into Swiss cheese. I immediately healed and hit him in the chest. He went a few feet back, and I caught him beneath the chin with my foot, sending him skyward. I transmuted my arm and some earth from the ground into a spike and sword and stabbed him rapidly in the back while he fell. Before he hit the ground he kicked me into a tree. “Fine, if you won’t let me have her, I won’t let you have her.” he said as one of his blades flew through the air. It landed straight through Megan’s heart. “MEGAN!” I screamed as I scrambled to her side. She sighed in pain as he pulled the blade out of her. “Sorry lass, but you now have only a few minutes to live. Now where has Mike-” he turned around to see my right arm shaking. “You’ve forced me to do-” I said taking my right glove off, “something I’ve sworn never to do again.” When the glove came off, a light purple alchemy circle glowed on the back of my right hand. The man died a little bit. He charged at me, trying to stop me, but all I did was snap. He froze in his tracks as black flames rained down upon him, created a tight ball around him, dispersed and came back, flying through him. When they stopped his skin was black, but still regenerating. “Now feel the pain of Dark alchemy.” I said, clapping my hands together as the symbol glowed brighter.

My arm went to become a spike when black matter formed the spike. “Soul Eater!” I cried as I slashed straight though the man. I was on the other side of him when a vortex to the Abyss opened and swallowed him and his frantic cries. I rushed over to Megan and checked her life signs. It wasn’t good. I placed my hands on her wound and began healing rapidly, my strength draining faster than I could heal her. I almost fell unconscious when she was finally healed. She opened her eyes to see me standing there, looking like I ran three marathons. “Are you ok!?” she said, checking herself for the protruding blade. “From now on,” I started, “I’m coming with you to see your brother.” She smiled.
“Thank you so much for saving me back there.” she said as we began our walk home.
“Like I’d let him kill you,” I said, “or worse.”
“Say, what’s Bio-Tech anyways?” she asked.
“It’s a Federation funded group that supposedly helps humanity evolve. All they really do is used human test subjects and created mutated freaks.” I said as memories from the burning building came back to me.
“Oh god,” she said, grabbing my hand, “if you wouldn’t have gotten here and he would have got me…I would have…”
She grasped me tightly, shaking. “Hey,” I said gently, “don’t think like that. I would have broken into Bio-Tech and killed everyone inside just to get you out of there, so don’t worry about it.”
She smiled and loosened her grip around my waist, looking me in the eyes. “I’m so glad I married a sweet guy like you.” she said right before she kissed me. “Yeah, you’re right.” I said smiling. We walked the rest of the way home, leaving two pools of blood and a sword through a tree.

On the way back a few thoughts swirled though my head. Who was that guy? Why was he really after us? Did he want Meg, or did he want me? And one of all my other ideas popped up: were there more like him?
