Yea yea, we all have our good and bad days, I know. But this day just tick me off SO bad that I want to rant here, wait for a few months, look back at this journal and actually laugh at the memory. That day will come, yes... Well now, if you're reading this (feel sorry for ya, haha), then hear my bad day in school.
I am in an engineering high school - or that's what they gladly call themselves *rolls eyes*. Anyway, today is supposed to be a "Super Learning Day" and our year group was supposed to build a free-standing bridge. We're supposed to spend the whole morning, in teams, making our own FREE-STANDING bridges and in the afternoon, the winning team from each class will be in charge of the whole of their class as we compete against the other classes. Makes sense? I hope so.
Well, my group consists of six people - four girls, two boys. They elected me as the System Manager - fair enough. Well, so we started our day very happy constructing our free-standing bridge. It really stands, and heck, it holds a lot of weights. We get marks for teamwork, profits, span and weights held. We were so sure that we would win.
When they actually started to test the bridges, that's when my bad day started. The other teams in my class only made the SPAN of the bridge without supports from either side. That ticked me off so I, being the very very stubborn girl I always am, challenged them (and my class teacher) into a huge arguement/debate about what a bridge is. They, as well as the engineers who tested the bridges, said I was wrong. So my team lost.
Afternoon came and the team from our class who won eventually got to construct their bridges, yay! (-_-) Well, when they actually construct the bridge in a larger, "more effective" way, they started to make damn rude remarks to me, still asking me whether I think it's a bridge or not. Now I'm not sure whether you've experienced it before, but I'm one heck of a stubborn girl. Naturally, I stick to my answer - I said it's NOT a bridge. They got angry, oh flipping heck, they got really angry at me. I shrugged and smiled, but I was damn annoyed at them.
In the end, when they actually finished making that "bridge" of theirs, the engineers shook their head and remarked that it WASN'T a bridge after all. That got them frustrated, me smiling and pointing out that I did tell them their mistake. My teacher herself admitted to me that it wasn't a bridge. They all panicked around and started to modify the bridge - I stood and watched.
The final testing arrived and still, what they made wasn't a bridge. Heck, if you made that thing out of concrete and placed it in a river, it will eventually flood the whole village! Well, they didn't want to listen, oh no.. so what happened? - our class lost. I smiled, they got annoyed, and I got a little award of "What is a Bridge?". Heck, I was annoyed. But well, with that little award, at least I got a chocolate bar.
The class got angry so they took their anger out on me, remarking on how I lost anyway. It didn't matter - I clapped hard when the judge announced that our class lost. They look sad, I clapped. They deserved it, being so hard-headed. I mean, even the judge said that "most of you didn't make bridges" so well, can't say I'm so annoyed after that.
Heavens knows how it'll go tomorrow - I'll probably post here if something good comes up. Our team bridge was thrown into the trashbin, but I kept the banner.
